Filed in National by on February 2, 2014

This makes me really sad.  I loved his work.

Award-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead Sunday afternoon in his New York City apartment, a law-enforcement official said.

He was 46.  Such a loss.

I’ll assume everyone is too choked up to comment.

Not really Pandora. Although the game is about to begin and life as we knnow it will change to that for 4 hours there is CNN (my wife read it) saying it;s drug related. TIme will, as always, tell the truth but if thats the case and he did overdose it a huge waste of a great talent but a story we read all too often. Life is full of choices. If his was a drug that offers the possibility of death it was a choice he made…
We loved his works, his talent was off the charts. Time will answer what really happened and we will only know than what to think otherwise.

Then just be sad. No reason to judge.

So sad! I went off to see Inside Llewyn Davis this afternoon and heard this on the radio coming home. Boy, did I ever love his work — one of the few contemporary actors who I would make of point of seeing every thing he was performing in.

Be Honest, and Unmerciful. PSH was the best thing about this movie and on the screen no where near enough. But in that small amount of time, he really gave life to the Lester Bangs character.

  6. jason330 says:

Oh shit! No you didn’t. PSH was good, but Zooey Deschanel as the older sister made the movie tick.

It is sad Pandora. The wife I appreciate his talent and works. How what I wrote (mispelled and misused) is construed as judging was not intended or understood.
Heath Ledger made a choice of..do I use this drug (or combination of) or do I get help and maybe win an Oscar one day. Neither was the first and neither will be the last as history will repeat itself over and over.
It is sad to lose such talents…again and again. IF (and that’s a big IF) this was a loss of life due to drugs its still just as sad although what I wrote stands in that life is full of choices. It applies to all of us.

I loved him in “The Ides of March”!!

  9. John Young says:

I think he carried Charlie Wilson’s War.

  10. Geezer says:

And who can forget him as Brandt in “The Big Lebowski”?

  11. Camptown Lady says:

Why are so many Hollywood-types junkies? They’re all rich, they all work part-time, they all have access to top-notch medical (psychiatric) care and yet so many of them throw their lives away. Why?

  12. Jason330 says:

I was wondering the same thing, but more specifically regarding Hoffman. Why would a guy like that ever try heroin?

  13. AQC says:

They do it because they have a disease.
