Officially, there are now three years left in President Obama’s term, as of noon today, and three years until President Hillary Clinton takes office.

Over the weekend, the Christie Bridgegate scandal took a turn into a far more serious area, which, if proven true, will result in his removal from office and possible indictment on corruption charges. Steve Kornacki released a blockbuster story involving Hoboken, NJ, a city along the Hudson in North Jersey. Hoboken’s Mayor, Dawn Zimmer, says the Christie administration refused to provide Sandy Relief until the city approved a separate real estate project tied to Christie confidante, David Samson. Samson is also Chairman of the Port Authority.

I guess the revelations are so new, but one thing missing from the entire discussion, it that these are corporate styled tactics and pervasive across the Republican Party. As long as Republicans are elected, they are guaranteed to continue. The issue is really far beyond Christie’s personal psychological profile. Christie may actually be a bully, but that covers up a glaring truth: one has to be a bully if he wishes to serve as a Republican. Republicans only respect bullies… Just look to Delaware for confirmation…

I should add we have exceptions in this state, mind you, but don’t assume the rule does not apply, because of the one or two exceptions. As a glaring example, just look at the past heads of the Republican Party… with how many of them would you share a drink ? (Hopefully while not in a box … at a shooting range…)..

I second all of that and add, not only are they corporate styled tactics – but this case the tactics were to DIRECTLY benefit a corporation, The Rockefeller Group. In the Hoboken case Christie was using influence to get business to a specific developer.

The guy is as corrupt as them come.

From Bob Cesca — Not A Bully

Which makes the point that the GOP expects their leaders to be bullies, but the media narrative supports this too. How many Democrats will get away with a You Tube Video Channel that would feature them bullying constituents?

Interesting but far too new to guess at a conclusion, we have yet to even get to the total denial phase. But….. Should be interesting.

  5. FenceSitter says:

Not sure what “corporate styled tactics” means. Would that include, say, the use of LLCs to get around election laws?

Ha.. I get it. Because jack Markell, right?

Dawn Zimmer’s case against Christie is devastating. I’ betting the Lt Governor is going to be the one that rolls over when faced with jail time. From Zimmer’s diary:

Zimmer shared this diary entry which she said she wrote later that day. “At the end of a big tour of ShopRite and meeting, she pulls me aside with no one else around and says that I need to move forward with the Rockefeller project. It is very important to the governor. The word is that you are against it and you need to move forward or we are not going to be able to help you. I know it’s not right – these things should not be connected – but they are, she says, and if you tell anyone, I will deny it.”

There is no way in hell Lieutenant Governor, Kim Guadagno, is going to take the fall when she basically already admitted she was working for Christie in this.

  8. Tom McKenney says:

I saw Kim Guadango’s denial. Thought it was completely unbelievable. She needs acting lessons.

She just looks like she is lying!
