Delaware Politics’ Tennessee Walker Wins The Misogynist Award

Filed in Delaware by on December 19, 2013

So… over at Delaware Politics, Tennessee Walker wrote a post about the the Chip Flowers/Erika Benner story.  Actually, he didn’t write a story about it.  He wrote a sleazy tabloid article.

Take a look at some of the phrases he employs in his post [emphasis mine]:

Brenner managed to stay 300 miles away in a resort known for great views of the Alaskan wilderness and closed mouths.

A suspicious mind might assume that, Erika Brenner got preferential from Democrat Chip Flowers. Ms. Brenner is an attractive young woman. (I assume he left out the word “treatment” after preferential)

But, if one wants to make the argument that she should get a Merit system job, there are two positions where she has acknowledged Merit:

Horizontal and Prone.

Tennessee Walker is touted as one of the “reasonable” voices of DelawarePolitics.net and the GOP, but he’s not reasonable.  He’s exactly like Rush and co. when it comes to women.  Seems like if you scratch the surface of a proclaimed “reasonable” Republican and you’ll find this garbage.

Oh, and he doubles down in the comments:

Don, neither you nor me can get the News Journal reporters to do their jobs. They are bought and paid for the sluts of the Democrat party.

The real story will come out when the Democrats mount (Brenner knows a lot about mounting) a primary challenge on Chip Flowers.

We can only work our own resources. I do have NCC informants and their info on the Chipsters preferences would not do him well in Wilmington.

It is time for the Chipster to find a black girlfriend

I’m not even sure where to begin – sluts, mounting, find a black girlfriend?.  It’s simply stunning – sexist and racist in one fell swoop.   Tennessee Walker should be ashamed of himself.  His post and comment are embarrassments.

There’s a story about the Treasurer’s Office – one that we’ve covered quite extensively – but Tennessee didn’t write one.  In typical GOP fashion, he wrote a story about his misogynistic views and sex.  It’s as if all he understands about the Flowers’ story is that there may have been a relationship.  But hey, I get it.  In Republicanland sex is focused on with the fervor and maturity of a twelve year old boy.   Altho… most 12 year old boys have more sexual maturity that Tennessee displayed in this post.

FYI: This isn’t a post on the Treasurer’s Office and neither was Tennessee Walker’s.

Racist misogynist wingnuts is a dog-bites-man story. Let DP stay under the rock it has crawled beneath.

  2. Steve Newton says:

You missed the post below Tennessee Walker’s in which Fay Voshell declared that the only true Southerners are white:

    Southerners revere their generals.

    For good reason.

The South’s generals are a part of the proud history of the region. They are honored to this day for their bravery and brilliance.

You see, non-whites who happen to reside in the South are not, by definition, Southerners for Fay.

DP is a disgrace to the Delaware GOP, which is why I like to direct people to it. The rampaging ids of these resentful ignoramuses show the rot at the core of conservatism. Publicizing it more widely will help destroy it more quickly.

In fairness to TW, he is merely stating openly the implication that has been at the heart of almost every article that the News Journal has printed about this story. Tennessee Walker has ears good enough to hear dog whistles.

  5. cassandra m says:

Oh, I don’t know about that. The dog whistles as well as flat out accusations are certainly part of the comments on the articles. And I’m pretty certain that there are no dog whistles in the articles themselves re: finding a black girlfriend.

  6. Geezer says:

Beyond the snide, misogynistic tone, the post also ignored the fact that Ms. Benner’s side of the story remains untold — and with Flowers dangling the chance of continued employment as a carrot, it’s likely to remain that way.

For all Tennessee Walker knows, he’s blaming one of the victims.

  7. Another Mike says:

It’s not “Brenner.” For crying out loud, if he can’t get the most basic part of the story correct, all of TW’s credibility — if he had any — is questionable. When he feels it necessary to include lines about what color girlfriend Flowers should have or what positions are suitable for Ms. Benner, any salient points are lost.

  8. pandora says:

And the fact, that in the post Tennessee only went after the woman’s sex life. He saved his racist comment for the comment section.

And Geezer is correct. We haven’t heard both sides of the story. But as I reread Tennessee’s misogynist rant, it seems he was much more interested in writing a post smearing (slut-shaming) Benner than in discussing the situation at the Treasurer’s Office.

There’s one more side too — the Cost Manager who was thrown under the bus for some of the credit card screw ups. She retired, and no one seems to have spoken to her.

  10. Jason330 says:

I can understand being interested in sex, but why is it that Republicans seem to be interested in sex in only the most creepy, leering and puerile ways possible?

  11. Geezer says:

Jason: I will remind you what Woody Allen said when asked if he thought sex was dirty:

“It is if you’re doing it right.”
