Rampant child rape and abuse going unreported

Filed in National by on October 29, 2013

A new study says that each year approximately 7,500 children are admitted to U.S. hospitals having been raped and more than 500 children die during hospital admission as a result of rape.

An abstract of the study, titled “United States Child Rape–Disturbing Trends,” was presented on Sunday by researchers at the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) National Conference and Exhibition in Orlando, Fla.

Why isn’t it a national scandal that this isn’t covered in the media?   It is almost as if someone is covering it up?  Oh wait.  I changed “gunshot” to “rape.”   Here is the original.

A new study says that each year approximately 7,500 children are admitted to U.S. hospitals with gunshot wounds and more than 500 children die during hospital admission from these injuries.

An abstract of the study, titled “United States Gunshot Violence–Disturbing Trends,” was presented on Sunday by researchers at the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) National Conference and Exhibition in Orlando, Fla. The study also found that states with higher numbers of firearm ownership had higher proportions of childhood gunshot wounds.

“Handguns account for the majority of childhood gunshot wounds and this number appears to be increasing over the last decade,” Arin Madenci, MD, MPH, the author’s lead study, said in a statement issued by the AAP. “Furthermore, states with higher percentages of household firearm ownership also tended to have higher proportions of childhood gunshot wounds, especially those occurring in the home.”

I think that this is the answer as to why there isn’t better media coverage. This kind of carnage is *supposed* to be done in more dysfunctional communities. Who is going to tell these red state losers that they are tolerating the kind of carnage they blame black people and the mentally ill for?

Anyone else waiting for a teabagger to quote this post, having not read it through, and say kids are being raped because we’re allowing gay marriage?

See, you continue using facts and logic. That’s your problem. I said it last week and I’ll say it again. Guns are entrenched. You can’t spell ‘guns’ without the U.S. A new law could be passed mandating every gun purchaser be given a 20 minute tutorial explaining that the chances for an accidental death or suicide of a family member or friend in the home will skyrocket and the chance that the gun is used in home defense or self defense is statisically nil. Doesn’t matter. Facts are for fancy bookreaders and people who can differentiate wine varietals…

I agree. Freud would say that, as a culture, we’ve suspended our reality testing abilities, and are living in a kind of dream state.

An anvil drops on a person’s head and it slides harmlessly off, save for a pronounced bump and some birds circling merrily. It is the same thing with guns. These 7,500 children are not real.
