When Will the White Community Take Responsibility for Its Culture of Violence?
This is the question central to Chris Hayes’ news (satire) piece yesterday:

It was inspired by this post in Gawker, called Video of Violent, Rioting Surfers Shows White Culture of Lawlessness:
A frightening and violent mob swept through the normally quiet seaside community of Huntington Beach last night following a surfing competition in the area. Businesses were vandalized and looted, portable toilets overturned, and brutal fistfights waged right out in the open. It was an ugly display and a sad day for California. But more than that, it was a reminder that we must begin to seriously consider the values of our thuggish white youth.
It is worth reading ALL of the comments here, because, seriously, what America needs is to raise the level of outrage over the persistently thuggish behavior of white youth.

This was the best thing I’ve ever seen on Gawker, and Cassandra is right about the comments — it’s like finding a diamond mine next to a gold mine.
I liked the one that pointed out how white people keep giving their kids preposterous names like Aiden and Addison, names that were bound to giving hiring managers a negative impression.

The comments are the thing that makes this whole article — my favorite exchange (so far):

These white youths shouldn’t buy into the thuggish surf culture and clothing that comes with it. If a white male in America walks around in board shorts, I take it as a warning sign that he is a violent and aggressive cracker, looking to cause trouble. If only they stopped wearing board shorts and wore a damn shirt with some sleeves, their behavior would change dramatically and people would respect them more. I’m not a racist, but I say if they want to dress like that, they should be prepared to accept the consequences.
You can make all the excuses for them you want, it won’t explain away their insolent attitude. They will never be accepted by wider society until they learn how to work with others instead of insisting everyone adapt to their own (low) standards of behavior.
It is in their DNA. You look throughout history and whites, or more aptly, those of European decent, have always been very aggressive. They almost seem to take joy in conquering and then oppressing other races, then claim “racial dominance”. It’s no surprise that whites today are so violent. Their natural urge to conquer and oppress is being fundamentally threatened.

Remember that race that was gentle and peace-loving, and insisted on to settling their differences through negotiation? Me neither.
Ironically, the white Western Europeans are weary of their long history of war and now are cautious of militarism and violent civil strife. They aren’t doing so hot on racism, but it’s all relative – compared with 70 years ago they are doing great on racism. Look where the violent conflicts are in the world now.

The white race REALLY doesn’t like being reminded of what they’ve done. It is why they consider people like Al Sharpton an enemy.
