I love Lewis Black!!!

And here is some polling goodness:

NEW YORK CITY–MAYOR–DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY–Siena: Christine Quinn 27, Anthony Weiner 18, Bill de Blasio 11, William Thompson 11 and John Liu 7.

VIRGINIA–GOVERNOR–Quinnipiac: Terry McAuliffe (D) 43, Ken Cuccinelli (R) 39.

NORTH CAROLINA–SENATE–PPP: Senator Kay Hagan (D) has comfortable leads over all comers, with prior month poll results in the parenthesis:

• 49-39 vs. physician Greg Brannon (44-40, 49-40)
• 49-39 vs. state Senate President Phil Berger (44-40, 46-42)
• 49-38 vs. state House Speaker Thom Tillis (45-40, 48-41)
• 49-37 vs. Rep. Virginia Foxx (46-39, 49-42)
• 49-36 vs. Rep. Renee Ellmers (46-39, 48-39)
• 49-36 vs. former Ambassador Jim Cain (46-38, 48-41)
• 49-35 vs. Baptist leader Mark Harris (46-37, 46-40)
• 49-34 vs. former Charlotte City Councilwoman Lynn Wheeler (45-36, 48-37)

Alex Roarty of National Journal reports:

Beset by legislative failures and bleak poll numbers, the Republican looks like the country’s most vulnerable governor heading into the 2014 election….

Already, speculation among GOP operatives has shifted to a quartet of candidates the party might turn to, including several Republicans in the state’s congressional delegation. Fearful of alienating a sitting governor, they’ve done little to publicly jockey for the potential opening. But all are said to be keeping a close eye on Corbett.

A dramatic move from Corbett to step aside isn’t imminent. On Tuesday, he replaced his chief of staff with a veteran political operative. Corbett allies say he remains laser-focused on winning reelection, even if he knows his path to victory is narrow. Meanwhile, Republicans aren’t looking to run against him in a primary, only eager to run if he opts not to run for a second term.

Roarty goes on to speculate that Keystone Republicans may get a little pushier if Corbett’s terrible approval ratings don’t improve. But at this point, Corbett is not going anywhere, and that is nothing but good news for Democrats.

Reason number 3,478,941 to leave Afghanistan RIGHT NOW:

The Afghan government is demanding that the U.S. military pay $1,000 for each shipping container leaving the country that does not have a corresponding, validated customs form. The country’s customs agency says the American military has racked up $70 million in fines.

Seriously? They are charging us fines for leaving? I wouldn’t mind if the Americans just occupied the border crossing until they could just be done with that place. Shaking down Americans for more money after so much of our tax dollars and so many of our lives have been sacrificed for these people is unconscionable. Bring them all home now.

House of Cards got 9 Emmy nominations today — and apparently other Netflix series cleaned up too. House of Cards deserves every award it can capture — I cannot wait for part two come the New Year.

Shark-nado is as awesomely bad as I expected. Sample dialogue:

“You mean to tell me you are going to get in helicopter, fly into a tornado full of sharks, and drop a bomb in it? ”

    “We have no other option!”

    On now on SyFy.
