As the Sussex GOP Turns… or These are the Days of our Tin Foil…

Filed in Delaware by on June 12, 2013

So Delaware Politics has a story up by the very wonderful Don Ayotte, currently a member of the Independent Party of Delaware (iPod), formerly a Republican candidate for Sussex County Council, about the current Sussex County GOP Spokesman, Duke Brooks. I am preserving the story in its entirety as it appears Delaware Politics is suffering some site outages at the moment, most likely due to David Anderson or some other admin over there trying to delete the story. Here it is:

Duke Brooks’ Open Court Cases

A subsequent data search of the Maryland court system reveals that Sherwood (Duke) Brooks, the current Sussex GOP Spokesman has five open cases, of which four are civil cases and one is a criminal case with a WARRANT status.

You will need to click on the link and type in his last name BROOKS, and first name SHERWOOD

http://casesearch.courts.state.md.us/inquiry/inquirySearch.jis

And true enough, Mr. Brooks does have a number of open and closed cases against him. Most involved bad debts that were eventually satisfied after Brooks’ wages were garnished or through a settlement, although it appears Mr. Brooks still has some open unresolved debt actions against him. There is one recent (2009) marijuana possession charge that appears to be still active with an open bench warrant, which means should Mr. Brooks enter the state of Maryland he can be arrested at any time. Ah, Sussex County conservatives. So fiscally responsible and law abiding.

And for some laughs, here is Mr. Brooks ranting about home manufactured home rent justification is some kind of communist society….

Another refugee from the Md. Eastern Shore, just like Sheriff Woody. It’s beginning to look like the “Sussex County” crazies are actually invaders from what the late Wm. Donald Schaefer called “Maryland’s outhouse.” Given how crazy they are, I’m pretty sure these are the “shithouse rats” of legend.

Simply for something to do while eating lunch I took a look at court cases. My assessment is that the individual is somewhat of a deadbeat. Additional characterization could be made by examining some of the particular plaintiff’s.

I wonder what it is about Sussex County and its far right ranks. The cast of characters is worthy of a dime store novel or something. Still the overriding reaction is: Are all these people for real?

Since they answer to a higher power, earthly laws and conventions regarding debts don’t apply.

The glaringly obvious answer is that the person (s) throwing the stones the hardest, are prolly guilty themselves. The other fact is that a large part of the Sussex population invasion consist of people who washed up in their home locale, and fled to Sussex to live with the grandparents. Truly a sad immigration policy that needs work.

Since I am unable to defend myself at DP because of the NAZI rule of law over there, I will address the above comment here. You guys may be liberals, but at least you allow people to say speak their minds, thanks.
Yes I used drugs and drank and fornicated, I was a sinner of the highest level. And yes I have been known to lose my temper at times. But I have given up drugs, I only drink a beer about every two years or so, and unlike my younger days, when I would punch someone in the mouth for the slightest slight, it now requires a bit more, but I will defend myself if need be.
Those who continually bring up my past indiscretions seek to diminish me by pointing them out, however, I see them as my greatest successes, they are my past, I can’t change them and I have never sought to hide from them. I am who I am.
“Judge me not, for I judge not myself, for God will be my Judge”
Sorry I hope I didn’t weird out any of you really hard-core liberals 🙂

The only ones I know who don’t …are those who dropped out of a Senate race and those who’s plane crashed and burned…

I know Sussex County has no sinners, but everywhere else… Hell, we love life to its fullest. (Beside, pot is going to be legal in a few years anyway… don’t even mention that one. That won’t be a sin, that’ll be a badge of honor… )

Getting back to the tinfoil folks over at Tinfoil Politics. Over a Delaware Politics, one sees that Kavips and anonymous’ posts of 6/14 were deleted. Anonymous post asked IPoD’s Von Baumbart, Beatty and Ayotte to described IPoD’s position on CO2 reduction and climate change. However, Moseley responded describing CO2 as “clear” “clean “plant food.” Anonymous responded to that nonsense and DP decided to delete. And then Moseley continued to post (instead of IPoD as requested,) with all types of evil environmentalist vs. wonderful CO2 garbage. Anonymous’ removed posts were on 6/14/13, 18:21 and 20:44 – which no longer exist, yet Moseley goes on and on claiming non existing falsehoods of the deleted posts. Moseley backs climate change and not a word out of Ayotte, Von Baumgart or Beatty re the deleting or Moseley’s 1%er fossil fuel denial rantings.

How cowardly, dishonest and disgusting. Moseley prefers to send tinfoil messages to the weak minded hoping they’ll never seek the truth. IPoD remains silent. Is Moseley IPoD Science Adviser now? Ha

Read Moseley’s idiotic defense of CO2 for yourself at “DelawarePolitics,”..Duke Brooks Open Court Cases,” starting 6/15/13.

One hopes IPoD is successful in the republican divide and concur tactics, as was COD. One can see that both Moseley, and IPoD, will be an enormous help to the democrats.

If one was wondering which direction the “the all new and improved” IPoD would take – now you know. Tea party in tinfoil hats.

  26. Delaware Politics says:

The posts that were removed were off topic. They were posted in the discussion concerning Duke Brooks. There are a number of other discussions about IPoD where your questions could be asked. Thank you for your concern.

  27. cassandra_m says:

How very charming. ADB and Delaware Politics posting from the same IP address.

KNOCK IT OFF. You people take the cake. If you want people to treat you like grownups, the stop acting like you are still at the kids’ table.

  28. SussexAnon says:

“The posts that were removed were off topic.”

So sayeth the party of free speech.

DL postings often wander off topic. It makes for good discussion. Then again, we here at DL do not post comic book bond villian length screeds.

  29. anonymous says:

Not to worry, the question was answered.

Just as one expects, in reading the posts over at Delaware Tinfoil Politics, one can read of so called “politics” at it’s lowest, most gross form – republicans trying to destroy each other – a current republican official’s sexual assault case, the ‘irreversible cultural, intellectual and organizational decay of the GOP,’ deadbeats, drunks, dope addicts, a “venomous” Ayotte, ‘an implosion within the core,’ ‘rape allegations,’ ‘a kick to the groin,’ claims of child molestation. Lovely Delaware politics right? One suspects, the truth is out about – being republican.

And Von Baumgart welcomes republicans over to IPoD. GOPoD. Imagine that.

And do notice, anonymous asked IPoD’s Von Baumgart, Beatty and Ayotte (as still available in Moseley’s senseless ramblings regarding CO2 and climate change) what is “IPoD’s position” on CO2 and climate change. Instead the lawyer from Virginia answered.

Turns out CO2 and climate change is the most FRIGHTENINGLY TABOO subject of all to those at DelawarePolitics, republicans and GOPoDs alike. And after all, republicans and IPoD appear to be – one and the same. Bedfellows, under cover – GOPoDs. It is also interesting how Moseley, the Virginia lawyer, has excuses for all republican shortcomings – but don’t dare mention the republican TABOO – the CO2/climate change connection.

One would suggest, people who actually are political “Independents,” immediately reevaluate who and what IPoD now represents.

What’s interesting is, the subjects mentioned in the lst paragraph above, are all mentioned in the DelawarePolitics comments of subject post titled, “Duke Brooks Open Court Cases, by DonAyotte.” It seems to follow, sexual assaults, irreversible cultural, intellectual and organizational decay of the GOP, deadbeats, drunks dope addicts, implosions, rapes, assaults, child molestation are thereby the proper and welcomed discussions under the subject post – “Duke Brooks Open Court Cases, by DonAyotte.” Obviously, the owners of the blog think so as THEY HAD REVIEWED the subject comments, allowing the above mentioned subjects to remain, but removed comments by Kavips and anonymous regarding the opportunity for successful government The idea of having candidates who actually care about the future of families, property, the laws, the state, the country, the temperature of the planet, are viewed as frightening to Delaware Politics. Ideas of good, honest, honorable, representative government are unacceptable ideas at DP. Remove such comments immediately. Allow instead every deranged republican subject and by all means and above all else – PROMOTE climate change by having the lawyer from Virginia rant freely and at length, at keeping the tinfoil voters clueless, subject to SIMPLETON climate denial rants and most of all – keep the intelligent good guy unrepresented in his government.

But one must ask. What’s the most deadly evil claim of all republican insane madman rantings?

“Increased CO2 does not warm the planet.” End Moseley quote.

IPoD claims to be the party of “thinkers” but apparently, CO2 and climate change is the FRIGHTENING TABOO subject some don’t want voters to think about. Everything’s going to be wonderful as substantial portions of coastal Delaware sinks below sea level, right? One might ask, how’s the future of Delaware City looking, or New Castle, South Wilmington, flood zone hazardous waste industrial Claymont, Christina area, the many river towns, Lewes, Rehoboth, the sinking ocean coast, inland bay areas, Long Neck, Oak Orchard, valued wetlands, state lands, low farmlands, or the infrastructure, bridges, roadways, highways, interstate, railways, the Port of Wilm., etc. For your tinfoil answer, read the rant by the lawyer from Virginia, “Increased CO2 does not warm the planet.”

“Thinking” republicans should re evaluate what republicans have brought to politics in Delaware, (mentioned in the 1st paragraph,) instead of respect of our laws, respectable officials, respect for our state, our country, respect for our planet, the value of everyone’s economy, the protection of everyone’s property, the respect of all individuals and families – including women and children. And the futures of those children, presently being robbed by 1%er greed.

Republican and GOPoD integrity were put to a test – and both entities sunk, hand in hand.

Go ahead, see for yourself what IS acceptable discussion in DelawarePolitics, at “Duke Brooks Open Court Cases, by DonAyotte, and describe why commenting on child molestation, assaults, rape accusations, is more on topic and less offensive than mentioning – CO2?

What does it REALLY mean – to be a GOPoD? anonymous asked, and the question was deleted but answered by default and the lawyer from Virginia.

Which leads one to ask again, What’s the most deadly evil claim of all republican insane madman rantings?

“Increased CO2 does not warm the planet.” No wonder the subject remains taboo

Independent minded voters have no connection with or affinity for the IPoD ( http://www.independentpartyofdelaware.org) ( Nice web site BTW)

  31. AnonnonA says:

anonymous your lengthy diatribe about comments was wasted bandwidth. All your atypical non relevant comments were put back in the discussion. Perhaps you can explain to the lowly peasants exactly WTF CO2 has to do with Duke Brooks, or Steve Grossmans court cases, or Frank Knotts. Methinks it’s just your way to deflect the discussion at hand since the only people posting in delawareright are Knotts liberal buddies from this site. You comment above reads just like a Moserly or Wolf post that you clearly have issue with, it also blows the hell out of SussexAnon’s claim “Then again, we here at DL do not post comic book bond villian length screeds.”

  32. kavips says:

That said, the historic battle for dominance in America has always been between Big Money versus Big Numbers of People. It was behind the Federalist/ Democrats Divide at our nation’s foundation; It was behind the Whigs/ Democrats divide leading up to the Civil War.. It is behind the Mike Castle/ Christine O’Donnell divide. It is now rearing its ugly head within the Democratic Party… The names consistently change but it has always, always been a struggle between those two forces..

In the Great Gatsby era, Big Money Won. In the New Deal era, Big Numbers of People won.. With Dick Cheney, the power reverted back to Big Money, and since Citizen’s United, it has set up permanent camp inside all government. Likewise, it was Big Numbers of People who made changes last November that Big Money could not see coming.

I know that is a simplistic view, but it explains almost 99% of how things work.

That said, with Big Money Schwartzkoph running the House, and the opposition in disarray minimizing any real threat, the fastest way to return power to Big Numbers of People is to throw a monkey wrench into the smooth machine-like working process.

A Third party with teeth. is the quickest Monkey Wrench to throw. Imagine if the Sussex County “true” Conservatives all followed Don to IPOD, then the middle party would be the likes of Tom Kovich and in truth, the administration of Gov. Markell. The progressives would be progressive, or in plain speak, those legislators in touch with their constituents. ….

For it to work, one MUST have unified defections from the Sussex County GOP over to the IPOD.. Current Senators and current Representatives and County Council must drop their ties to the Republican Party and shift to serving their next term as IPODS, Without such a bold move, the above characterization of third parties will hold true. With it, the Ipods are entrenched for Generations. Those current Sussex Republicans must ask themselves this question? Are they best serving their children? themselves? their constituents? by being tied to a party that will not let them be who they are? Or would everyone benefit further by making the split? Basically it’s the same question every divorce couple must ask itself when finding themselves in that situation.

Now here is the beauty. Each of those three parties will now have no choice but focus their attentions on serving Big Numbers of People. Big Money will have to bet on all three, which minimizes their clout by 1/3rd. For whenever they bet on one, then the other two can join and stop it. Our legislatures will then have much more fluidity, and issues highly important to Big Numbers of People, such as education, will not be swept under the rug by the “managers” of legislation who are secretly on the payroll of Big Money…

As I said that is an overall simplification of the process, but it really does have a possibility of happening for the first time in our lifetimes, if.. and a big if, the “true” conservatives have the moral strength to listen to their hearts and make it happen… After all, they are “true” conservatives for a reason.

A good divorce is one where everyone is happy… I think this could be one that works.

  33. anonymous says:

A good divorce is where the parties spit and go their separate ways, not dwell together in a house divided. Mr. GOP over there and Madam GOPoD on the other side of the house. That’s just two entities who despise each other, dwelling under the same miserable republican roof. Home sweet home, right?

If GOPoD were truly the voice of the people, not the voice of fossil fuel interest republicans, why wouldn’t they just answer the question rather than delete the question and post the big money republican CO2 climate change denial crap provided by a Virginia lawyer instead?

One heard no voice of the people (or a person) from within GOPoD. What you can read in the comments at DP, however, is just the republican lawyer’s fractured reply. (CO2 is “clear,” “clean,” “plant food.”) Ha.

Wonderful stuff, that coal plant industrial by-product waste. Ppssstt – don’t mention the greenhouse effects and changing climate, the melting polar regions, the releasing of feedback system methane, etc. Industrial era fossil fuel waste product ain’t got noth’n to do with it, ya hear?

IPod lacks everything. Everything …but a couple of dudes sitting at their computer. But they want power, which they may hope to obtain, through a new configuration of republicans – GOP and GOPoD. One doesn’t expect “Big Numbers of People” will rush to GOPoD, just the usual tea party suspects, donned in tinfoil provided by larger interests.

So anyway, VonBaumgart, Beatty, Ayotte, here’s another opportunitiy to speak your piece. Tell the people – what is GOPoD’s position on CO2 as it relates to climate change?

Delaware Liberals quite likely will show the integrity of not deleting your comment or anyone elses, whether they agree with it or not.

  34. anonymous says:

Update. DelawarePolitics has restored the comments they removed. The deal about that was they called “off topic” yet allowed the lawyer from Virginia to continuing commenting on the ‘same deleted topic,’ offering a one sided view as he attacked the deleted view.

Also, Wolfgang VonBaumgart has responded over at DP, 6/16/13, 13:39. Anonymous acknowledges his reply here, since the thread continued on here due to the DelawarePolitics redactions, so one will resume with Von Baumgart’s response.

“Besides, the last time atmospheric CO2 levels reached or exceeded 400 ppm was back in the Pliocene Era when there was no anthropogenic industriaivity.” VonBaumgart

    That’s not a valid argument.

That was up to 5 million years ago, VonBaumgart. Humans didn’t exist, neither did ice anywhere on the planet, sea level was up to 130 feet above present levels and coral reefs suffered massive die offs. During the ancient times you reference, an increase of CO2 of 10 ppm could take up the 1000 or more years of time to come to pass. In current times, with anthropogenic CO2, the planet is poised to reach 1,000 ppm CO2 in the period of 100 years. The last time the planet reach 400 ppm – was May, 2013, and we’re 40% of the way to 1000 ppm Of course, people who die along the way of heat stroke, extreme storms, starvation, territorial wars won’t be around to know what a methane releasing runaway climate or abrupt climate change can do to future generations.

VonBaumgart calls for a “more science-based approach including more accurate technology assessment.” No VonBaumgart. That’s the typical industry (let’s do another study) approach to stalling. Beside are IPods qualified or have the resources to question and improve upon decades of the highest quality of scientists, equipment and amazing resources available for climate research performed by thousands of top climate scientists from around the world, who are 99% in agreement?

You’ll frighten your tea party members when you mention carbon tax or RGGI. In the comment the republicans deleted, however, was a briefly described carbon tax plan (James Hanson’s), that would return 100% of the tax monies directly TO THE PEOPLE, via a debit card. The tax and dividend would adjust as needed as years go by. The public (adult ‘citizens’ plus 1/2 rate to 2 children) could spend the debit card money as they choose. Imagine this – the people taking control of their own energy needs, doing the right thing, instead of politicians handing over tax payer money to subsidize CO2 pollution and politicians allowing polluters to pollute for free.

This has nothing to do with “piling taxes upon taxes.” Instead of a tax on the people, this is a tax on the producers of fossil fuels, at entry, production point of fossil fuels for by-product damages and costs the fossil fuel industry dumps into the people’s natural resources. More dumping = more tax.

It’s easy to keep track of coal trains, LNG tankers, pipe lines and tax their by-product. The public could then use their debt card sums to reduce their carbon usage – via home solar panels, wind, energy conservation measures, geo thermal, mass transportation, energy efficiency, conservation, etc. There’s no ‘denying’ home energy use can be brought down to nearly off the grid.

When a person wants to get rid of their trash, they have to pay. The fossil fuel industry sends their by-product CO2, up a smoke stack. U.S carbon dioxide emissions are approx 6 thousand million metric tons per year. Moseley called CO2, clear, clean, “plant food,” ignoring the fact that amounts matter. Too much – is planet changing. In addition it is accumulating, as CO2 can last up to 200 years in the atmosphere. With a carbon tax, the tax money is put in the hands of the people and thousands, millions, tens of millions of people could reduce their fossil fuel usage, making a meaningful reduction in CO2 happen. Like preppers, they can build their own family energy security, helping to assure a future for future generations. (Don’t kid yourself, the wealthy are already doing just that.) And fossil fuels of course, will still be necessary and will be in business but will want to get into the growing clean energy markets.

Von Baumgart says, ” Current State energy policy is based on expensive and/or dubious propositions.”

Anonymous says, But taxing the fossil fuel producers, giving the tax money to the people, could help reduce dependency for tens of millions, reduce oil wars, climate wars, water, food wars, lower CO2 by-product releasing, creating a demand for clean energy innovations, efficiency and products, improving the economy, securing the people’s future and helping Americans become clean energy leaders among nations.

Von Baumgart said, “Our energy problems will never be solved as long as special interests control our government through the D and R parties.”

The people can’t accept a defeatist position. The idea is to take the people’s power back from the special interests.

CO2 reduction is an undenialbe must, and there must be (and there is,) a centrist plan to make that happen, as energy dependency on fossil fuels is an industry forced condition – with the people forced to bear increasing costs of fuels, the rising costs of CO2 pollution, as well as increasing damages to their homes, economy and planet.

Republicans won’t do anything about reducing CO2; democrats are doing too little, too slowly and are facing too much opposition – the party of ‘no.’ The people are left to foot the bills. That makes the fossil fuel industry happy. Other industries are applying the heat. Take the rising costs of flood insurance for example (to where homeowner costs are un payable,) or insurance companies refusing to cover flooding without a steep additional premium. State Farm recently dropped coverage entirely, for those most at risk of rising sea levels and storms. That’s not mentioning costs to the people who endure droughts, forest fires, crop failures, extreme storms, extreme temperatures, higher energy bills, rising food costs, medical bills, lost business, lost land, shorelines, increasing government costs, etc.

Time to have fossil fuels pay for their damages as well as have them become part of the solution. Where’s the politician that will say that?

Republicans have been deniers all along. Republicans are also their own worst enemy. Hello, not dealing with carbon emissions – is the direct path to the last resort – Big Government.

The party the figures out how to solve the planet’s climate crisis, will be the future of the people and not the party of self interest politicians. And that’s what the fossil fuel politicians don’t want the voters to think about. Freedom from corrupt politicians is freedom from industrial /governmental abuse.

Whatever you’re trying to accomplish, you’re not going to accomplish it by posting this stuff on blogs devoted to local politics. Your sense of urgency isn’t going to convince anyone of anything.

  36. anonymous says:

    Geezer,

If persons in politics wants to stick to incorrect beliefs, people should want to know about it – beforehand.

So much of life boils down to politics and the CO2 problem is on the top of the list and right on down to every local level, from burning yard waste piles to leaving items running, to lack of clean mass transportation, to energy black outs and surviving days without energy. But not to worry, we’re living in the coal fired state, stoke dem coal burners. Right, Mr. Markell?

Not seeing enough home wind or solar even though home energy should be an easy fix? It’s something those in government should be active on, as well as arranging financial means to accomplish it in a short turn, in great volume. Should I mention how many homes could be running more efficiently right now, on money and energy costs (charged to the people,) and then wasted on – not even ONE – Fisker Karma? Hello, Mr. Markell? A $110,000 car? Mr. Markell !

Americans have adapted to a lifestyle that’s not sustainable – there will be consequences. Instead of efficiency and clean energy, Markell reopens a refinery to process the dirtiest of fuels when the climate is in crisis- without proper protection for Delaware’s environment? Mr. Markell !

While I’m at it, why would Markell approve hazardous waste dioxin stockpiles, in a flood zone? And how soon is that second bridge going to be closed again. Good job Markell ?

Besides, if someone says there’s an ‘all new’ political party, I’m going to check it out.

But do ya think I wouldn’t know what it really is?

You’re wondering why I’m here; I’m wondering — where is the political leadership?

    Hello, Mr, Markell? Mr. Markell?

Didn”t anyone remember the days of Minner/Markell?

It gets covered wit da re, re, re re re norishment sands. Dem bridge ramps am built mighty low gov/nor. Wha’s up with that? What ever happened about that thar money for dem other big bridge ramps? Them were mighty costly sand bags. Sure could use some of them now. Where are they? Had they hired dem some engineer’n types yet?

Oh well, no sense in going to the inland bays anyways, dem dar fish and shellfishes be dangerously contamined do to lack of oversite, wetland development and such. They gots that dar sewer dump pipe dump’n on Rehoboth beach yet?

Wats you mean, ya cants understands me? I’s grajiated from a Deliware high skool and even has higher Delaware edjications and I learned climate denial from the best and I knows how ma govy’ment works. Now, which way to DNWRECK ocean front park’n lots – I broughts ma fish’n pole along so as I can joy ride on some norishment sand and park thar for a spell. Lewes flooded? Rehoboth closed? Oh come on gov, you knows I’s been taught that thar rising sea level stuff am just some science conspiriccy made up by foreignors and hand wringin envirre mentalists. Even wit my fine Delewar ejicasion, sometimes it due gets hard ta keep up with all dem gov’ment wheel’ns and steal’n dough. Know what, I’s feeling lucky gov. Which way to the casinos? Can I gets a cooked meal from them fine kitchens on the ferry? A six dollar cold plastic wrapped hotdog? Aint they cleared out them frozen flies and kitchen draws of cooked meat yet? Ya still try’n to sell you a ferry, gov? To tells ya the truth gov, I’d say Minner taughts you good.

This is why we need a healthy conservative blog in this state: It keeps the nuts all in one jar.

  46. anonymous says:

Is that where you keep your nuts, geezer?

  47. geezer says:

My nuts are bigger than your brain, sporto. Fuck off.

  48. Geezer says:

If you have a point, you should probably try to make it in plain English. You aren’t clever, you aren’t funny and you don’t seem to have any point other than slagging the governor over things that aren’t his fault. He’s done plenty wrong on his own; why you keep dragging up Ruth Ann Minner’s screwups is clear only to you.

Minner / Markell = more of the same. Looks like they go way back.

It’s a grip & grin from the Council of State Governments. Are you really this stupid? Sure seems so.

Try to get this through your skull: The jobs are autonomous. The candidates don’t run on a ticket together, they don’t campaign together, and in day-to-day government operations, they have nothing to do with each other.

Though you’re apparently to stupid to realize it, it’s indeed possible for two people to be guilty of the same things without having plotted together.

In fact, many of the things you blamed Markell for in your not-funny screed are actually Minner misdeeds. You don’t have the game to play in this arena, chief.
