Oh wow–many, many years ago as a new driver, I backed the family car into a tree in our driveway. The tree continued to stand for decades with my carve-out in the trunk. 21st century arrived, and the tree was to stand no longer. Kalymar Nickel restoration people came and aged it, assessed it, and declared it fit to meet their project specifications. That tree now is the windlass and that’s my lemons to lemonade story when your kid hits stuff on your own property—and your Dad can point it out to every visitor as a cautionary tale….”Be careful backing out—see that blackened hole, on that tree……” !!

Three cheers for the Wooden Nickel and my funding tax dollars. Rode on it once, ride wasn’t worth the $40 I paid. I’d like to ride it once on a windy day under full sail, but I don’t think the crew has the huevos.
