I’ve got 50 bucks that says Republicans are full of shit… any takers?

Today “economist” Art Laffer was all over the wingnutverse calling the contraction in the U.S. economy “catastrophic” and predicted that it would continue to shrink without “spending restraints and lower business tax rates.”

Are you fucking kidding me? People are still listening to this nut? Well, if you are listening, and buying any of Laffer’s bullshit, I’ve got $50.00 bucks if you can prove that his “shrink the government and give tax breaks to businesses” nonsense has ever resulted in economic growth.

Kinder Morgan Doesn’t Like to be Bashed

Filed in National by on January 31, 2013 30 Comments

This is what Alan Levin had to say reacting to Kinder Morgan’s comment that the DE Legislature’s insisting on doing their job might kill the deal to privatize the Port of Wilmington. The NJ’s front page story on this today accounts for Kinder Morgan’s new found nervousness over this deal, telling an analysts’ conference call that the GA may have scuttled whatever deal is in being secretly negotiated:

John Sigler, clowinshly demonstrates typical GOP clowny innumeracy (or dishonesty…or perhaps both)

I think it is now clear that Sigler was dropped on his head as a baby. Just check out the latest dispatch from Clown boy:

Violence Against Women Act VS Women Need Guns Because… Violence

Filed in National by on January 31, 2013 61 Comments

I’m having a hard time reconciling what Republicans are saying.  I know, shocking. Yesterday, during the Gun Violence Hearing, you would have thought that Republicans would have overwhelming supported the Violence Against Women Act, given that women were trotted out as one of the main defenses of AR-15s and 30 round magazines. Of course, they […]

Late Night Video — Kid President Gives You a Pep Talk

Filed in National by on January 30, 2013 4 Comments

I love this kid. This might be the best video of the year — already. It is hard to pick my favorite bits, but the You Can Cry About It or You Can Dance About It works as advice I especially needed recently. Kid President wants you to know that the time to be awesome is now (approx. 3.5 minutes long):

John Carney’s Facebook Page: “I’m a dupe and I love it!”

After only two years, the guy is phoning it in. Putting in so little effort is astonishing. Can he be over being a Congressman so soon?

“Yesterday we had to get rid of our guns. Today we gotta grant amnesty… They’re running the no-huddle offense on us. We don’t even have time to catch our breath. They’re running play after play after play.”

That is Rush Limbaugh, on his radio show yesterday. Good. That is how I like my football teams, and my political parties and Presidents, to play.

Has Jack Markell Lost the Trust of the Delaware General Assembly?

Filed in Delaware, National by on January 30, 2013 32 Comments

I think he indeed is trending in that direction. Which is not good for Jack, the General Assembly, or the people of Delaware. I think I know why, and I have some ideas as to how he can reverse that trend.

Governor Markell has, at least twice in recent months, blindsided legislators by either changing or muddying his position on key issues…..

Late Night Video — The Daily Show Investigates the Death of Investigative Journalism

Filed in National by on January 29, 2013 6 Comments

This is so much awesome — John Oliver doing the Daily Show investigative report into why investigative reporting is dying in American newsrooms. Once more — The Daily Show commits an act of news that neither the news networks or newspeople could manage (approx. 6 minutes):

Tuesday Open Thread [1.29.2013]

Yesterday, the wingnutoverse was on fire about Sunday’s interview by 60 Minutes with President Obama and Hilary Clinton. They thought it was awful, too soft, too cute and in the main tried to use it to frame Hillary as the Worst Secretary of State ever. (Your agenda is showing, Roger Ailes. Besides, I think that history has already written in Condi Rice as the worst Secretary of State in contemporary memory.) In a few liberal circles, this interview is being seen as Obama’s endorsement of Hillary in 2016. What did you think of this interview? (I confess I haven’t seen it yet.) You can watch it here:
