Rand Paul Is A Hypocrite And A 2016 Grandstanding Fool

Filed in National by on January 23, 2013

Rand Paul decided to burnish his Tea Party cred at today’s Benghazi hearing with Hillary Clinton.

First, he claimed that by stepping down at Secretary of State she was assuming “the culpability for the worst tragedy since 9/11.”

He then went on to say:

Had he been President at the time, Paul said, he would have relieved Clinton of her post. “I think it’s inexcusable,” he said.

Hey, Baby Paul!  Wanna know what’s really inexcusable?  You, pretending that under your reign the State Department would be able to defend its employees from anything.

In his own budget proposal for 2011, which called for a half a trillion dollars in across the board spending cuts, Paul proposed a $20 billion cut to the State Department. By way of comparison, the State Department’s core budget for the 2013 fiscal year is $43.4 billion. You can see that provision of his budget at the bottom of the page here.

Can we reconcile Rand Paul’s faux outrage with his own budget which would cut State Department by almost 50%? Someone needs to go back to the kiddie table.

And hats off to Dick Durbin:

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) defends Susan Rice. “Five words to reflect on: ‘Iraqi Weapons of Mass Destruction’. We were told at every level of government” that’s why we were invading Iraq. “They didn’t exist. We can have a hearing on that if you like.”

    Of course he’s a hypocrite:

Mrs Clinton also turned her fire back on Congress which she said had repeatedly failed to fully grant the State Department’s requests for funds for embassy security in three of the last four years.
The State Department had “consistently requested greater funding for embassy construction and diplomatic security” but been denied by Congress, she said. In 2012, lawmakers cut the department’s budget request by $340 million, or about 10 per cent.

It is just stupid to send State Dept employees out into an increasingly dangerous world without paying for increased security for them. If you don’t want to pay for the security, then you should be telling the State Department where to shut down.

Hillary said something like what difference does it make whether those people were killed by a protest or some guy that just wanted to kill some Americans. (or al Qaeda right?)
Anyway it sure seemed like it mattered to her a few months ago when they kept saying it was a youtube movie even after it was clear that it wasn’t . Doesn’t really matter because like I’ve said before, some people are just beyond reproach.

I hope Biden runs for President in 2016 so Hillary can enjoy the retirement that she deserves….lol.

  3. Geezer says:

@FBH: I approve of this investigation of how 4 Americans were killed in Benghazi. But don’t you think we should also investigate how we were lied into a war in Iraq in which over 4,000 were killed? Didn’t think so.

This is what Mrs. Clinton said:

Mrs Clinton however, banged the table with impatience at the line of questioning, saying: “Was it because of a protest, or was it because of guys out for a walk one night who decided they’d go kill some Americans? What difference, at this point, does it make?
“It is our job to figure out what happened and do everything we can to prevent it from ever happening again,” she added.

Seriously, google is your friend — especially if you just decide to come over here with whatever Fox Noise is telling you to say.

Fine with me. I don’t have any allegiances to anybody in politics, String Bush up if he’s guilty of something.

@cassandra-Sorry cassandra, was I supposed to be quoting her word for word or something?…. And I don’t watch fox news.

  6. Geezer says:

OK, then. Though I think it’s Cheney, not Bush, who would find himself imprisoned.

Funny that no Republicans wanted answers about that one, though, isn’t it?

  7. Jason330 says:

This Benghazi thing is good news for the McCain campaign.

  8. fightingbluehen says:

“Funny that no Republicans wanted answers about that one, though, isn’t it?”

2008-2010 Democrats controlled the government Geezer. They could have easily demanded answers then.
I think they remembered that they themselves voted for the war also.

  9. Dana Garrett says:

I hope that Rand Paul is the GOP presidential nominee in 2016. That way when he is crushed at the polls, the USA can finally repudiate the tea party/libertarian horseshit that besets the nation.

  10. Jason330 says:

Paul was put up these hijinx in order to give Republicans a chubby on the day of their total capitulation to the Obama administration and Senate Democrats.

There no reason why he wouldn’t also be easily duped into running for President.

  11. Truth Teller says:

I don’t remember this much ado from the Repuks after 911 even though Bush and Cheney were warned of the attack and went on vacation after being warned. However today Hillary kicked their Asses she came off as the smartest person in the room.Paul, Johnson and old man McCain were attempting to score points but they failed.
