Thanksgiving Open Thread [11.22.12]

Filed in Open Thread by on November 22, 2012

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Hope that all of you are safety ensconced with your family and/or your friends — watching the parades, watching football, cooking, eating and drinking. And giving thanks. We here at Delaware Liberal are thankful to be among so many committed political junkies and activists who share so very much of their commitment, passion and knowledge with the rest of us. We are, of course, grateful for our families and friends who sometimes don’t quite get this passion for politics, but today we ask you what you are thankful for this season. Let us know in the comments if you drop by today.

And to remind ourselves that very few of us are native to this place:

Hi all and Happy Thanksgiving! Just put my pecan pie in the oven – pumpkin was baked last night.

I am thankful that I have a kitchen this year. Last Thanksgiving, I didn’t even have a back wall on my house – although I did consider leaving the blue tarp up as a fashion statement!

I’m thankful for friends, for an improving economy, for the outcome of the elections!!!

Kudos to the #StrikeDebt project, founded by OWS members. They collect donations and use the money to buy medical debt for pennies on the dollar, then they cancel the debt. Here’s a tweet from today:

Happy #DebtsGiving! Certified letters are being mailed to 80 liberated debtors. Hundreds more to come in the next few weeks.

    A comment rescue:

You are in debt only because you are American. If you were Israeli, Canadian, French, English, German or Spanish, you would have no debt. Your problem is not that you had medical issues. Your problem is that you live in a country with a completely screwed up health care system that rewards some with seven and eight figure incomes and leaves others to die on the sidewalk.

Glad to have John Brady on my team, the best crossover since Margaret Rose Henry:

    Happy Thanksgiving, all!
I’m grateful to live in a country where I don’t have to celebrate religious or even national secular holidays in a proscribed manner (that includes Black Friday). I’ll be out in the garden all afternoon — what’s left of it.

Our sink collapsed while full of soaking dishes. A very memorable Thanksgiving.

A sinking sink? Hard to imagine. Hope you’ve got pictures.
