So Newt Gingrich has announced in an email to his supporters that President Obama is going to win.

An email message mistakenly sent to Newt Gingrich’s newsletter list serve Thursday morning told subscribers that President Obama would no doubt win in 2012 and that they should be more worried about Obama’s winning in 2016.

That’s right, despite the 22nd Amendment, which limits any one person to two presidential terms, the email that went out to Gingrich’s readers suggests President Obama would be running again in 2016, and possibly serve through 2020.

The email, titled “What’s really at stake this Tuesday …” came from Gingrich Marketplace – a newsletter coordinated by conservative news group Human Events.

“The truth is, the next election has already been decided. Obama is going to win. It’s nearly impossible to beat an incumbent president,” advertiser Porter Stansberry wrote in the email to Gingrich supporters. “What’s actually at stake right now is whether or not he will have a third-term.”

I know it is commonplace to think your political enemy is going to stay in office illegally beyond his term. I entertained such notions about Bush and Cheney in 2004. The truth is, the only man who wanted to be President longer than 8 years is Bill Clinton, simply because he loved politics. Both Bush and Obama seemed relieved to be limited to two terms.

“Folks I want to remind you, this is the end of daylight savings time tonight. It’s Mitt Romney’s favorite time of the year because he gets to turn the clock back.”

— Joe Biden, quoted by the New York Times, at a rally in Colorado.

That Gingrich thing really needs to be the final nail in the coffin of this business that he is somehow the intellectual of the GOP. If he was looking to spin up a plausible scenario that might motivate his donors, he should have told them that 2016 would be All Hillary, All of the Time.

Anyone read the NY Post? They are mightily unhappy that Chris Christie working the President Obama has the look of Christie dumping his Presidential fiance at the church steps.

But true bipartisanship includes the need to make clear his belief that the incumbent’s vigorous response to the disaster would have been more than matched by Mitt Romney had he been president.

Well no, because Romney told folks that he would have devolved that responsibility to the States, right?

Christie is grabbing his brass ring and going for it. Running for anything as the Man Who Rebuilt the Jersey Shore has appeal.
