The Photo that Reelects Barack Obama?

Filed in National by on November 1, 2012

According to the Wall Street Journal’s Jeff Yang, “[i]f enough people see it, this is the photo that singlehandedly re-elects Barack Obama.”

And here is the picture edited to make a more pointed and yet relevant point, which is of course, obvious and true.

Wingnut interpretation: Why is that black man choking that white woman as soon as the fat guy turns his back?!?!?

  2. Jason330 says:

If it only takes a picture, why did I sent the $20.00?

  3. puck says:

Okay, I get it, and it’s very effective. But if Christie is supposed to be the long-sought “sane Republican,” I think we’d better keep looking.

  4. pandora says:

I think the point is that Independents and “moderate” Republicans like Christie – and I think this group is the true swing vote. So… Christie can swing this vote.

But it does get old watching the bar for Republicans set so low. Justice Roberts isn’t a liberal because he upheld the ACA, and Christie isn’t a sane Republican. Anyone who believes that is in for a world of disappointment.

  5. cassandra_m says:

I don’t buy the Christie as a sane Republican, either. But I do think that any Republican who can credibly wrap himself around the Who We Used to Be idea here would have campaign gold.

    Headline: Obamacare

  7. reis says:

cassandra hit the point; Christy knows this is gold for him in his future political career. Basically, he’s saying, “Sorry Mitt, but there’s no point in backing a loser; nothing personal, dude.”

  8. fightingbluehen says:

Yeah, that proves it. Obama cares more about people than Romney does.
Why didn’t Obama visit NYC where there are people literally dumpster diving for food?……..Oh, that’s right. Bloomberg didn’t want him there hampering progress. I guess he’ll have to settle for the fat man and people with beach front properties .

  9. pandora says:

Someone seems a little bitter and disappointed. Looks like Republicans have moved on to the second stage of grief.

  10. socialistic ben says:

Rusty, you forgot that FBH is your “not so ugly” sock puppet. that was more of a Rockland style comment.

  11. fightingbluehen says:

Yeah, I guess that was a little harsh.

  12. Paula says:

FBH: is this what you’re talking about — dumpster diving?

A friend of mine lives in the East Village and says it’s pretty normal around there — outside, at least (inside, dark and chilly). It’s not as if the entire island is blacked out and flooded. In the blacked out areas, cars are stopping at intersections and there are lots of bikes and runners. Families are hanging out in parks. It isn’t a jungle.

Besides, need-based dumpster-diving is nothing new in NYC, or any other city, for that matter.

  13. anon says:

I think Christie is a sane Republican, but he’s the type of sane Republican Mitt Romney was (as governor of a blue state) before he hit the national stage. And truth be told, I think Christie has the guts to stick to his convictions and stay that way if he ever hit the national stage. I wouldn’t vote for the guy, I think his ideas about education are completely wrong and his willingness to blame unions for every problem in his state means he drinks at least a little bit of the Scott Walker Kool-Aid, but overall, you can do a lot worse than Chris Christie.

  14. puck says:

When I think of sane Republicans, I think of GOP Congressmen who will cross the aisle on Democratic bills, or oppose wackjob Republican bills, the same way Republicans enjoy a reliable group of Dems who will support their bills. We haven’t really had that since before Bill Clinton’s 1993 economic plan that every Republican voted against.

Christie wants to be an executive; he doesn’t want to be in Congress or any situation where he will have to make hard choices and form alliances.

  15. JB says:

..because there are absolutely no liberal agenda ideas that were better “before”. This is just as bad as the conservatives this photo caption is meant to criticize, but I guess that’s what you can expect from a site called “Delaware Liberal.”
