Will Eric Bodenweiser Withdraw From His Senate Race?

Filed in National by on October 5, 2012

Bill Colley of WGMD seems to think so.  Here’s what he wrote on his Facebook page:

“After speaking with Eric Bodenweiser I get the impression he may withdraw from his Senate race.”

  1. kavips says:

He can’t. He needs to stay in. As proof of: this is what Republicans are… Same reasoning behind Akin staying in. If Bodie drops out, then the “blue bloods of Delaware” are again pulling every single string over everything that goes on in Sussex County. Local rule is done. Bodie must stay.

  2. puck says:

I think if Colley is saying it the drumbeats are increasing. I guess it could all just blow over like Akin though.

  3. anon says:

kavips you are assuming (incorrectly) that this rumor about Bodenweiser came from NCC. It did not. The epicenter of this rumor is in Sussex County.

  4. joe says:

    Crossing Swords?

  5. Anon says:

More accurately the rumor is coming out of Florida.

  6. V says:

I would just like to put out there how annoying all of these “lets talk about the rumor that we all know but we wont officially talk about it because we’re trying to stay above it because it’s just a rumor” posts are to those of us who have no idea what you’re talking about.

    Spill it.

  7. SussexWatcher says:

When it comes out, you will understand why no one’s giving details.

  8. V says:

yep. that’s what’ im talking about.

guess i’m not in the cool kids club.

  9. X Stryker says:

    We don’t wanna get sued.

  10. V says:

then don’t talk about it at all. it’s like Jr. High up in here.

  11. SussexWatcher says:

Then get off the Internet and pick up the phone to someone in Georgetown.

  12. V says:

you win SW. you’re cooler than me. I’ll just wait like a good girl while you guys all gossip like 13 year olds but act like you’re above it.

you are the most speical and unique snowflake of them all.

ROTFLMAO over and over at the above post. I agree with your post only you left out the part ” 13 year old girls”

Well, I for one, don’t understand all this north vs. south, elite vs homegrown, above and below the canal political rhetoric. I did live in NCC most of my life. I was by no means a player or an elite in the GOP – I like to think I had and continue to have common-sense values and a tolerant outlook that moved down with me.

When I came down here in 1999 it was culture-shock. I am a moderate politically, and if the truth be told, I could find a home in either party – but the us vs. them culture is very strong down here. It’s scary. When you have some Sussex leaders doing the whole “holier than thou act” and behind that facade, as it often is(not always) the reality that this hard right, fundamental faction can be the most hateful, judgmental and intolerant practitioners I have ever seen. They advance politically, not with ideas, but by attacking their opponents and drumming up fear in the electorate. They rationalize it as a defense of their values – such as I experienced watching the Delaware 912 Patriots in action during what should have been an innocent local library discussion. For all the flag waving and shouting about freedom, due to their behavior, local voices got bulldozed that night. There’s no long term future in that kind of value practice. When Katrina hit, a good measure of people I have gotten to know here in Sussex, agreed with that whats-his-name preacher that said Katrina was a punishment by God against gays. They really believed that! I am sure a few flies had time to fly in my mouth over that one. And you wonder why the northern GOP folks think Sussex is nuts? Jeb Bush has been warning the GOP that if they are to survive, they have to knock this crap out.

It is my observation that a portion of people in Sussex, and elsewhere fear their way of life is being threatened. I get that. They are very, very vocal, and they make a lot of noise and they go to the polls. That is their right to seek someone to represent their values, but lordy, do we have to jump and hoot and holler for the first candidate that artfully and publicly bows their head? Part of the problem is a larger majority are complacent and allow the vocal minority to do their talking for them.

As a female, wife, mother, wage earner, I reacted with horror as the newest female Republicans Sarah Palin and in Delaware Christine O’Donnell as they became media and political celebrities. As a female I felt deeply insulted. Was that the best we could do? Sorry, they’re not leaders, they’re flamethrowers.I see no gravitas there. No rational thinking. It’s embarrassing.

Wearing faith on one’s sleeve, is a big warning sign for me in a politician or public servant. I prefer the do-gooders who don’t look for credit or attention continually. The ones with the fanciest, longest flowing sleeves are usually dripping with hypocrisy and covering up scared arms of no good.

I respect this website and the boards; policy of not specifying until facts are known. I’ve heard the rumors at the water cooler, so to speak, and if they are true, it has nothing to do with a witch hunt, or some master mover and shaker moving us around like chess pieces. If they are true they are very grave and are indicative of a core character defect. The truth usually surfaces, and sometimes the truth is ugly. We have to be grown up and face that.

Was he caught in bed with a live man or a dead woman?

  16. Sussex Transplant says:

And I do want to make clear, I do not mean to disparage the good people of Sussex County. When my husband had major surgery, my NCC relatives sent an email. My Sussex friends stopped by, actually bought cards and put stamps on them. We got flowers, fruit baskets. All from Sussex. That says volumes. This is my home and I love it. I don’t regret moving here, but the cultural-political attitudes are very, very different and I am not sure that is a good thing – a winning political formula.

  17. SussexWatcher says:

V: Sorry that you actually have to work to find out information. But no one here has the responsibility to tell a random anonymous consonant anything. We all worked our sources to figure out what’s going on. You can certainly do the same. I can guarantee you that if you’re from Sussex and know someone in politics, you can figure it out.

  18. puck says:

    Skippertee, you lack imagination.

  19. Dave says:

What ever it is, I hope it is juicy enough to live up to the suspense. I will be sorely dissapointed if it turns out to be something very simple. Bodie’s deed had better be worth the hype dammit!!

  20. skippertee says:

    Puck- dazzle me with yours.

  21. V says:

I’m not SW. That’s why I come here to get local statewide news from people who are “working their sources” because they are sooooo awesome. Not “I know something you don’t know” chatter.

Whatever, at this point it’s probably bullshit anyway. You keep clutching your pearls and pretending you’re special and I’ll come back when we’re talking about real news or you have to balls to share your notes with the class.

  22. SussexWatcher says:

    Boy, you’re bitter.

  23. puck says:

I don’t know what’s going on down there. To me, it’s just time to get up and get some more popcorn.

  24. V says:

nah. i’m good. i don’t need to talk shit to anonymous consonants to feel like my existence has a purpose.

I just hope when i grow up im as special and cool and revered in my community as you.

  25. joe says:

Where’s Waldo?? Maybe he went back into the closet!

  26. kevin says:

Bill you coward! Come on you know what it is so scoop the story…blowhard!

  27. Bob Laurence says:

The silence is deafening from the Bodenweiser campaign. No response to all these rumors??? “Earth calling Eric, Come in please!”

  28. chlorophil says:

As far as I can tell, there is only a rumor that a rumor exists.

  29. Bob Lawrence says:

chlorophil: rumor or no rumor, the absence of EB and the disappearing Bodie signs surely makes one wonder what the heck is going on. He’s not been returning calls or showing up. Reminds me of when that Governor went missing, forgot his name, from the Carolinas. And we know what happened to him. He’s gone. And if EB doesn’t do something very soon to revive his campaign, I think he’ll be done for. Probably already is done for, actually.
