Scab Refs

Filed in National by on September 26, 2012

So this experiment is scab officials seems to be going well for the NFL. Although, I watched the replay of the Packers game and it looked like one of the scab refs lost track of which team had possession of the ball and called a touchdown when it was clearly a safety touchback.

To be fair to the scab refs, that kind of close last second hail-mary doesn’t happen too much in the LFL (lingerie football league). So the scab refs don’t have that much experience in making those close calls. That one play aside, I think the scab ref situation proves that you can fire fat, lazy, greedy professional teachers, cops and air traffic controllers and replace them with amateur, inexperienced idiots who will work for peanuts.

There is really no difference between a scab and a regular greedy low-life public employee.

I’m highly amused by so many politicians — especially GOP ones — who are weighing in on this and asking the NFL to bring back the regular (UNION) refs.

you’d think the players would have the union camaraderie to at least THREATEN a support strike.

Didja know that some of those officiating NFL games were fired, due to incompetence, from…wait for it, the Lingerie Football League?:

The play, if called correctly, would have been an interception not a safety. The reason they called it a touch-down was because of the NFL rule of a simultaneous catch – possession goes to the offensive player. The problem is that it clearly wasn’t a simultaneous catch. Green Bay defender alone had clear possession of the ball. Epic Fail! At the beginning of the season the NFL said that they would have a representative in the booth to help with coach challenges and reviews. All scoring plays are reviewed. Did the NFL rep also miss what the rest of the world saw?

I think what’s worse is how the players are taking full advantage of having replacement refs out there. They are playing dirty and not respecting the refs. Players are getting hurt because of it. While I have to admit the games are definitely more entertaining with all the fighting and dirty defensive plays, it doesn’t help with the NFL’s stance on player safety and the integrity of the game in terms of sportsmanship.
