Lots of Calls Tonight

Filed in Delaware by on September 10, 2012

I have had one from Tom Gordon from Oklahoma (405-308-4474). I had another anti-Karen Weldin Stewart call, but I could not hear who it was from. It was couched as a Voter Alert about somebody withdrawing support from KWS due to her actions in office. The call came from 302-415-3500. And I just got a call from Dave Brady, reminding me to vote tomorrow for him, even though I am no longer in his district. Harris McDowell had a similar problem. I wonder if I have going to have problems voting tomorrow. I have my updated voting card, so the DOE knows I have moved. I guess the campaigns have old lists. Let us know what calls you are getting.

  1. geezer says:

Whoa. Just got one of the most scurrilous robocalls ever. It was anti-KWS, no ID.

Woman’s voice apologizes for calling but this is important: We are withdrawing our support from Karen Weldin Stewart.

But it never says who “we” are or why they are withdrawing support.

Hey, I’m no KWS fan, but that’s dirty-tricks stuff. There’s only one candidate with a history of pulling election-related stunts.

  2. Delaware Dem says:

I got the same call Geezer. Was the connection really static-y too? I personally think it was a Dem Party call. But who is the candidate with a history of pulling election-related stunts? Spivack?

  3. Jpconnorjr says:

I would suspect you should think “field of Dreams” but hey it does show a little desperation ya think;)

  4. pandora says:

I just got the same call.

  5. Delaware Dem says:

Spivack was out with pretty hard hitting mailers this past week, so I wonder if it is him.

  6. I got the anti-KWS call. I might have gotten the others but I’m not answering my phone unless it’s a number I know.

  7. Delaware Dem says:

JPC, please come out to Timothy’s on the Riverfront tomorrow. I want to see your disappointment in person. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  8. Joe Cass says:

Have any of you gotten your voting report card? Mine came from a .org I haven’t been to since 2010 but I’m wondering if they blanketed dems or only their contact list.

  9. Delaware Dem says:

It is thus going out to all Dem registered voters.

  10. Delaware Dem says:

Also, Geezer, I found nothing really objectionable, fact-wise, in the call, except for the lack of identification of who it was from. The points the call made were all true.

  11. Jpconnorjr says:

I appreciate the invite and I will stop by about 10-10:30 either way. Though you coulda picked a cooler place ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. Marcy says:

I’m not a KWS fan but I thought it was a nasty call.

  13. Have a friend speculating it is coming from the Mitch Crane camp but I am not one to start rumors…

  14. Idealist says:

I can confirm it was not from the Crane camp.

  15. Delaware Dem says:

Yeah, it is not from Crane’s camp. They are the frontrunners have nothing to be gained by a robocall. I suspect Spivack and his funders.

  16. Delaware Dem says:

I almost half wondered if KWS or McDowell was behind it, but if they were, it would be a much nastier call (like calling her misogynistic names) to play up sympathy for her.

  17. heragain says:

Oh, you mean like how COD planted a story in Gawker to make herself seem attacked? Hate that.

  18. Delaware Dem says:

KWS has done it before. It is her MO.

  19. geezer says:

DD: Do you think the failure to identify was a bug or a feature?

  20. geezer says:

“it is not from Craneโ€™s camp. They are the frontrunners”

Have you seen polling to confirm that, or is it just an opinion?

  21. Idealist says:

    I have.

  22. Jpconnorjr says:

This sort of thing 12 hours before the polls open is generally ineffective. I can say with certainty it was not Karen. Who it was I really don’t care. Let’s get this thing going and see how it falls out!!

  23. Idealist says:

wouldn’t be surprised if it was Spivack, he decided to show up with a week left.

  24. Delaware Dem says:

    Geezer:

    1. Re Crane being a frontrunner, both opinion and second hand information regarding polling.

    2. Re the call, it’s a feature. Look at all us trying to guess who it was from. That was the call’s intent. Some are going to think it is the Del Dems, some are going to think it was Crane, since he is her main opponent. The call is trying to damage both Crane and KWS, in my opinion. Considering the call mentioned the fact that KWS has not rejected a rate increase, it matches exactly the language of the mailers Spivack sent out last week, which is why I think it was his campaign.

  25. Jpconnorjr says:

The best robo call is Urkle against Lopez saying Lopez is against the sanctity of marriage… Thems fighten words in Sussex …. Jud Bennett just did an email denouncing Urkkel

  26. PainesMe says:

Fairly sure it’s illegal to send a robocall without a disclaimer…. thought Spivack’s high-paid consultants could have told him that.

  27. reality check says:

    J. Steinberg

I hope you realize that if you weren’t being facetious or penning satire that you’re an obviously stupid person.

  28. SussexWatcher says:

    Gallagher will outpoll Spivack.

  29. RJ says:

I got the call too. Bet anything this call is either from Spivack since he’s been attacking KWS in mailers or it’s KWS herself so she can claim she is a victim of “all these men attacking me so I can’t do my job.” Well after tomorrow she can start looking for another job.

  30. cassandra_m says:

Got home a little while ago and there were 4 hangups on my machine and call from Trini Navarro for Crane, Spivak for himself, Gallagher for himself and someone for Dennis Williams who I don’t know.

  31. Hmmm says:

You do not need to put the paid for in de as long as it is a state race. Check the dept of elections website a attorney general ruling a few years ago ruled that it was not required, most folks still do it just as a formality.

  32. RJ says:

It’s Spivack. He was bragging that he was going to put out an “Alert” on KWS.

  33. CR says:

That 302 number looks like a burner cell phone. Obviously not anxious to be tracked…

@Joe Cass: Yeah I got the MoveOn.org lit piece the other day, and it must have been all Dems because I didn’t update my info with them to my current residence. It was pretty ridiculous. I’ve voted in all but one election (a local referendum) that I’ve been registered for in every state I’ve lived in, and yet they said I had a poor record because I’d only voted in one general election because I wasn’t old enough to vote in more. I even voted in a bunch of special elections in MA related to the Kennedy seat.

  34. mediawatch says:

My wife picked up one today from Montgomery for Mayor.
Waste of money. We live outside the city.

  35. Joe Cass says:

Thanks, CR. I guess attempting to remove myself from their data lists would prove fruitless. Unless I can convince their IT person that I’m a Nigerian Prince. And she’s won the lottery. And click here.

  36. Ezra Temko says:

I’m getting a call tomorrow. It is an awesome Bock the Vote call. I think it deserves best robocall of the 2012 election. And yes, 302 area code – it is the candidate’s cell as the number it is from.

You can listen to it here: http://www.dialmycalls.com/s/CW5YR3B

  37. SussexWatcher says:

    Translation:

“Hey, everybody, look at me! I’m Ezra Temko, campaign manager for Claudia Bock, promoting the campaign of my candidate without disclosing that I’m the campaign manager! So when I call it the best robocall of 2012, I’m actually touting the work that I and my team did!”

  38. Mike Matthews says:

    Sussex…Zzzzzzz…

  39. Boch had a lit piece that had a photo of Temko on the back as large as Boch’s next to it….

Interesting to see the various filters of the haters as far as reactions to the anti-KWS robocall.

  40. Ezra Temko says:

Hi Nancy, Did you forget to mention that there were also photos of 4 others the same size, because it was a foldable booklet? Please try not to mislead people…

  41. Ezra Temko says:

    Anyone listen and smile yet?
