Zimmerman’s Bond Revoked – Headed Back To Jail

Filed in National by on June 1, 2012

Via CNN:

(CNN) — A Florida judge revoked bond Friday for George Zimmerman, who is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Trayvon Martin.

Seminole County Circuit Court Judge Kenneth Lester Jr. ordered Zimmerman to surrender within 48 hours.

Lester accused Zimmerman of having misrepresented how much money he had when his bond was originally set in April.

The decision came after prosecutors asked Lester to revoke the bond.

Prosecutors argued that Zimmerman “misrepresented, misled and deceived the court” during the April bond hearing not only about his family’s financial circumstances but about whether he had a U.S. passport.

Lester appeared to accept the explanation from Zimmerman’s lawyer that his client had given him a second passport that he had obtained, but that the lawyer simply forgot to hand it over to authorities until Friday.

You know, this doesn’t look good for Zimmerman – whose entire defense depends on his credibility.

  1. He’s innocent.
Trayvon had no right to attack this man simply because he questioned his presence. If you think it’s ok to do so, don’t call the Police next time you are mugged and get the living daylights beat out of you for being somewhere someone else felt you shouldn’t be. According to your bent thinking, it’s ok to attack someone just for asking. Following someone is also not cause for an attack. Why didn’t Travon call 911? As I thought……you’re having a blank moment.

Repeat after me…guns don’t kill people. People with anger issues kill people. Zimmerman didnt have any but Trayvon sure did.

I carry a gun because Police are too heavy.

This kind of case always brings out the racists.

  4. Linda says:

I am so tired of hearing about this. Enough already there is so much more crime going on in the United States. Let it go to trial and have him judged by his peers!!! Geez . . .

  5. pandora says:

You are, of course, free not to read the post, Linda.

Back to the point… Zimmerman’s entire case is based on his credibility, which just went out the window.

  6. Linda says:

Pandora, excuse me but I didn’t realize that there was a point. Maybe you should have prefaced it with “the point is . . .

  7. pandora says:

Hmm… the last sentence of my post was my point.

In SYG laws the only other witness is usually dead, therefore the shooter’s credibility factors into their defense.

  8. Valentine says:

I think those of us who believe Zimmerman essentially targeted Trayvon for murder, and went ahead even when told by the police to leave it to them, but ended up getting the crap beat out of him in the process, realize what the point of the OP is. Trayvon is the one who should have been legally able to stand his ground.

But of course there is other crime.

George Zimmerman a liar? Who would have ever guessed.

  10. think123 says:

He was caught in a blatant stupid lie telling the Court he didn’t have a dime – when he was sitting on over $100,000 cash. I now have doubts about his injuries. The blood streaks on the back of his head don’t look right. Odd angles, no smearing as you would expect getting head banged around. It looked to me like a guy who gave himself some deep scratches, maybe with a car key. My bet is it will turn out this guy is a loose cannon of a bully that chased after a kid, started a fight, and ended up killing him. We know for sure he is a weird kind of liar for trying to conceal all that cash. He let his lawyer claim he was destitute.

Love to hear what Freedom Fighter would say if some 35 year old bully psycho with a gun ended up killing his kid.

  11. @Freedom Fighter–

Were you present when Zimmerman confronted Martin? I wasn’t, so I can’t say for sure who is “guilty” in this case. I CAN say that it was colossally STUPID of Zimmerman to follow and confront Martin, especially after a 911 operator specifically told Zimmerman “we don’t need you to do that.”

I realize that Zimmerman wasn’t obligated to follow the 911 operator’s instructions, but he was a real dumbass yahoo wannabe cop & he’s now getting his just desserts.

  12. @think123–

I’m going to pull a Bill Clinton here & ask you to define the word “lie”.

If to lie means to state a falsehood, then Zimmerman may be in the clear as far as the bail hearing goes. It’s quite possible he knew about the online fundraisers, but did not have control of the funds at the time and was personally financially destitute.

If to lie means to make a factually true, but intentionally misleading statement, then Zimmerman could spend then rest of his pre-trial days in jail.

It all depends on what your definition of “is” is.

  13. Liberal Elite says:

Does the moniker ‘Freedom Fighter’ refer to fighting FOR freedom, or AGAINST freedom?

Giving a pass to those who threaten and kill others with guns is NOT promoting freedom…. it’s more like fighting freedom.

  14. Geezer says:

“Following someone is also not cause for an attack. Why didn’t Travon call 911?”

“Calling 911” is viewed differently in the black community than it is by yahoos like you.

By the way, it was Zimmerman’s wife, not George himself, who testified they were destitute. So I don’t think it’s his credibility at stake so much as his lawyer’s.

  15. SussexWatcher says:

But Zimmerman sat there and didn’t correct her. That seems tu be what the judge is pissed about.

  16. Digby says:

Now this poor guy has to sit in jail while awaiting trial where I am sure he will be harassed and threatened constantly only to be found not guilty when all is said and done. There is NO CHANCE this guy is found guilty of second degree murder. What a shame.

  17. think123 says:

@Roland D. LeBay – ask the judge about what “lie” means, he’s the one revoking the bond. The prosecutor called it a blatant lie, the judge agreed.

I don’t agree that calling 911 is different for the black community. A stereotype for sure. Sort of like saying white people are golfers.
