Filed in Delaware by on May 8, 2012

Here’s my assignment for you…

Call a friend or neighbor and get them to vote today.

You can find my thoughts/posts on the School Board elections here, here, here and here.

For information on who can vote and where to vote click here.

I still haven’t figured out exactly why School Board elections have become such a hot ticket item – I just know that this year they are.  Our votes will matter.  No excuses.  Go Vote!

  1. MJ says:

Pandora, it’s because school boards are where the conservatives can get a foothold on making policy.

  2. pandora says:

That’s true, but what’s going on here includes more than conservatives.

  3. MJ says:

Get this, Urkel has his state senate campaign signs up outside the polling places, and he’s not even on the ballot.

  4. anon says:

Isn’t it illegal for Urquhart to put signs up on non private property more than 30 days before the primary? Right now, the only place his signs can go are on private property. Someone should call DelDOT, I’m sure Glen has the $25.00 fine for each of his signs.

MJ, I hope turnout is good down there and you are working hard for the sane candidate.

  5. Valentine says:

It is too bad for those of us in districts with only conservatives running.

  6. heragain says:

Prolific twitter presence MayaREGuru is voting for someone named Kenny Rivera in Red Clay, who seems to be running on an “Our schools for Our Kids” policy to prevent all those wetbacks from the BSD from choice-ing into Cab, Charter, DMA, etc.

That WOULD set the cat among the pigeons.

  7. MJ says:

I was working Cape High School for Jen Burton, and the response we were getting was overwhelmingly in her favor. Then Mike Miller showed up with a campaign sign and figured since he wasn’t on the ballot, he didn’t have to observe the 50 foot rule. I told him that there is NO campaigning within 50 feet of the polls, no matter who you’re campaigning for. What. A. Jerk!

  8. anon says:

MJ was there good turnout at Cape and how long were you there? I know Cape and Rehoboth will be Burton’s strongholds, I’m wondering what’s going on in Milton, where Bill Downs really lives.

BTW, who was Mike Miller campaigning for?

  9. SussexWatcher says:

Jen Burton whooped Bill Downs’ ass, 1,187 votes to 580, according to the Cape Gazette. Thank G-d.

Micheal Wackynuts Miller was campaigning for himself. He’s running for the state Senate seat. Glen Urquhart had a shitload of signs out front by the entrance, too. I guess they figure it’s good for name recognition.

  10. MJ says:

Cape had a steady stream, and it was overwhelming support for Jen. And Urkel had his signs and Mikey Miller was just as annoying as always. I think he’s only had one campaign sign made and his handouts looked like they were printed at Kinko’s.

  11. SussexWatcher says:

It’s 45 minutes after the polls close, and still no results posted on the Sussex Board of Election’s site. How long does it take to add up the totals from two machines and call them in?

MJ: Someone needs to write Miller a nice fat check to GO AWAY. The guy is embarassing himself. I figured he was campaigning because it was the only way he could get on school property.

  12. pandora says:

    No results up here, either.

  13. MJ says:

SW – three machines (Cape, Rehoboth Elementary, Mariner Middle).

As for Mikey Mouse, he claimed that no one has ever heard of Andy Staton and that he was the best known candidate in the district. It was all I could do not to laugh out loud in his face.

  14. Delaware Dem says:

I would have laughed out loud in his face.
