Republican Don Pridemore: Try To Remember The Things You Love About Your Husband While He’s Hitting You

In Wisconsin — yes, the same state where lawmakers have introduced a bill penalizing single mothers for being unmarried — a Republican state representative has come out against divorce for any reason — even domestic abuse.
Instead of leaving an abusive situation, women should try to remember the things they love about their husbands, Representative Don Pridemore said. “If they can re-find those reasons and get back to why they got married in the first place it might help,” he told a local news station.
His cohort, Republican state Senator Glenn Grothman, adds this: “There’s been a huge change over the last 30 years, and a lot of that change has been the choice of the women.”
Got that, ladies? After your husband has beaten you, instead of packing your bags you should make a list of all the reasons you married him in the first place… because that will help the bruises heal faster. Besides it’s all your fault. After all, the changes of the last 30 years have been choices of women. You don’t like being abused? Then you shouldn’t have left the kitchen.
Yeah, no war on women here.
I swear, many Republicans want to return to the days when women were chattel.

Well…It is difficult to see where the GOP will go from here. I guess jail time for being raped, based on the “they were asking for it” thinking that you find in Sharia law countries and wingnut talk radio.
There’s always to solution suggested in the Dixie Chicks’ song, Goodbye Earl. And that solution is certainly a choice. What you *don’t* want, is that that to be the ONLY choice.
But yeah, these guys are slouching towards Sharia.

Oy! And the reason that he says that single-parenthood is so bad is that he says that there is more child abuse in single-parent households.
I’ll leave the accuracy of that judgment for others, but shouldn’t the kids of single parents just think about what they got last Christmas while being beaten? Problem solved!
Funny how the fantasies come out as the best ways of handling this problem… When the solution is make sure not one Republican ever gets elected. If every time a Republican speaks, they get laughed at publicly, this woman problem will go away.
The laughing needs to exit the blogs which is little more than an echo chamber, and start taking place in the workplace, or playplace….
