What’s At Mitt’s Core?

Filed in National by on April 23, 2012

Is Mitt the flip-flopper with no discernible core? Or is he severely Conservative” as he claimed to be at CPAC earlier this year? And, how does Obama campaign against a man whose values seem or not seem to change depending on the audience?Bill Clinton wants the Obama Campaign to label Governor Romney as an arch conservative:

A more effective strategy, Clinton has told anyone who would listen, would be to focus almost exclusively on Romney’s description of himself as a “severe conservative,” to deny him any chance to tack back to the center, according to three Democrats close to the situation.

One of Ted Kennedy’s former campaign staffers suggests going after Romney as a flip-flopper:

Moreover, Bob Shrum, who helped run Ted Kennedy’s successful 1994 Senate campaign against Romney, takes issue with Clinton’s advice. An all-of-the-above strategy worked then and should work now.

“I think they are doing the right thing, it’s all part of the same narrative – that Romney doesn’t care about anybody but himself,” said Shrum, who ran John Kerry’s unsuccessful 2004 campaign against George W. Bush. “It’s coherent.”

I like Bill Clinton’s thinking on this. Hit Romney hard on the conservative stuff and every question will become a trick question. That will reveal the fact that he is a flip-flopper more effectively that saying, “He is a flip flopper.”

It does not matter what tactic the dnc uses. This is not 1992, or 1994, or 1996. We now have this little thing called the internet. Any no one has to take the msm word for anything ever again. Any interested voter can now quite easily research any particular issue on either candidate, then make up there own mind. This is vastly different than when clinton and ted kennedy were running. Additionlly, these new information technologies Are also going to gradually change peoples thinking from being eithef a republican or a democrat, to just voting for the women or man they prefer based on their own research

For all the wrong reasons, you are probably right. It doesn’t really matter. I guess that is as close as you’ll get to being right about something dils, so savor it.
