New Castle County Rezoning: A Boon For Developers?

The New Journal is reporting this morning that the New Castle County Council is seeking a last minute vote to make a broad change the use of land in the county.

At issue: the county administration’s proposal to change the title of one category of properties on the Future Land Use Map from “Community Redevelopment” to “Commercial/Office/Industrial.”

Tom Dewson of Save Our County Coalition says:

County administration and Land Use Department officials want to significantly broaden the potential uses for properties without community buy-in and approval. They want to fast-track future rezoning proposals with an anything-goes approach.
