Sussex County In Revolt – Huge Support for Christopher Reports WGMD
I don’t know if WGMD is a news station or what, but according to WGMD – Christopher-mania has gripped the people of Delaware’s ass end.
Dozens of Sheriff’s Office supporters are filling the seats at today’s Sussex County Council meeting in Georgetown.
People are at the meeting to voice their opposition to last week’s decision by the Council to support House Bill 290.
The legislation stipulates that county sheriff’s have no arrest powers; the bill is being sponsored inDoverby State Representative Danny Short and Senator Gary Simpson.
State lawmakers will have a hearing on the bill Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Legislative Hall in Dover; those attending today’s Council meeting are also scheduled to rally in Dover tomorrow.
I wish I could get away from here and go light a candle in hopes that Sussex will be seceding…
I wish people in Sussex County could count. Dozens of people does not a winning coalition make.
It was about a dozen outside and the head count I got from inside the chamber was about 20. The people outside went inside, so most of the 20 inside were also outside. WGMD took their picture inside the chamber while other business was being discussed. Many of the people in their picture left when the Sheriff commentary started.
Gezzer, One Sheriff with a gun and arrest powers is a majority.
“I wish people in Sussex County could count.” Unfortunatley, Geezer, Christopher and his posse couldn’t count to 21 if they dropped their pants. 😉
This will be another wedge issue to drive out the Republican vote on election day in Sussex.
Drive out the crazy vote perhaps, but do all SC Republicans want the tax increases that a weaponized Sheriff’s office would require?
I thought tax increases were a non-starter.
doubtful, sussexanon. Outside of St. Bodie Girl and his buddies, most people don’t support the sheriff and won’t turn out solely on this issue.

Be afraid folks – be very afraid – Jeff Christopher has a former police officer who LOST is POLICE CERTIFICATION in DE – now ask yourself WHY did that happen and WHY would Christopher hire and undesireable like that
He also has folks working for him with criminal records – and other that could not pass COPT standards
This is very scary stuff and the lynch-mob mentality I heard there today is disgusting and vile
He has surrounded himself with never beens, wanna bes and has beens – no one of any valid standing in the community or other-wise

Short and Simpson apparently pulled the bill under pressure
Wow. Schwartzkopf had said that, unless the Rethugs took the lead on corralling their own crazy gunslinger by introducing and supporting the bill, the D’s weren’t about do their work for them.
Guess we’ll have to wait until Sheriff Jeff and his Mindless Minions do something really disastrous. Which they inevitably will. Total irresponsibility on the part of the R’s. So what else is new?
for the record he has an offier working for him that was DECERTIFIED by COPT – that means he can NEVER be a police Officer in DE or any other jurisduction worth its salt. Ask DRBA who he worked for….. bad news bears…
the current crop of deputys can not even meet the minimun standrds for COPT, physical, mental, psych etc

course rumor has it another deputy quit today – wonder what the back story is on that one

Bodenweiser’s threat to primary every Republican legislator who signed onto HB 290 worked. So I guess Colley, Bodie and Christopher have consolidated their power to the point that the reps work for them now.
Who are the deputies, and what are their qualifications, if any?
