BREAKING: Sanford Police Chief Steps Aside “Temporarily!”

Filed in National by on March 22, 2012

I was going to wait and post this, but then I thought some of you might not be aware of the press conference and may want to watch at 3:30.  I will update this post during and after the press conference.  If you haven’t heard, yesterday the Sanford City Commission passed a motion of “no confidence” for Sanford Police Chief Bill Lee.

SANFORD, Fla. – The Sanford city manager on Thursday will hold a news conference in the Trayvon Martin case.

The news conference is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Sanford City Hall, and it will be streamed live on ClickOrlando.com.  (Watch video at top of this page.)

According to a news release, Sanford City Manager Norton Bonaparte Jr. “will be discussing the current status of the events surrounding the investigation.”  No other details have been released.

Not sure what the Sanford City Manager will say – I hope he will announce Sanford Police Chief Bill Lee is outta there and Zimmerman has been arrested, but given the way Sanford has handled the case so far… I’m not holding my breath.

Stay tuned…

He was on Andrea MItchell (who, btw looks fantastic, considering) today… evaded every question she asked about Grand Wizard Billy (i assume Bob) Lee. I hope he has come around in the last hour and publicly fires every Lee, and every pathetic excuse for a cop who responded that night, gives their pensions to Trayvon’s family or whatever else is in his power to do.

Chief stepping down. “temporarily” Hopes the investigation moves forward swiftly and appropriately. The city wants justice for the Martin family.

Not much of a press conference.

  3. pandora says:

That “temporarily” is going to be discussed and discussed and discussed.

The wording was probably done in committee. I’m sure everyone is lawyered up pretty good.

  5. pandora says:

Why even bother with a press conference? This is fence straddling. He isn’t gone, yet he isn’t there? I doubt they satisfied anyone.

They’re politicians. They are doing it right if no one is satisfied.
