Delaware Liberal Tracking Poll Results: Matt Denn

Filed in National by on February 21, 2012

Matt Denn gets to walk into the Governor’s Office this morning and brag: he has better approval numbers than Jack Markell.

Do You approve or disapprove of Lt. Governor Matt Denn’s job performance?

Strongly Approve — 55%
Approve — 18%
Strongly Disapprove — 15%
Disapprove — 7%
Undecided / Meh — 5%

Total votes: 87. Conducted: February 20, 2012

Yes, Mr. Denn has a 73% approval rating, besting Markell’s meager 63% by 10 points. What is Matt Denn’s secret to success? Well, he is witty, down to earth, approachable, has two adorable sons, and he blogs. Actual real blogging rather than campaign or safe political prattle. Of course, he is not a frequent blogger, as I understand his day job takes up much of his time. But still.

So the title of Delaware’s most popular politician (so far) goes to Lt. Governor Matt Denn.

The poll for New Castle County Executive Paul Clark is now up and will be open until tomorrow morning at 8 am.

His Facebook posts are the best of any politician’s. His advisors must go crazy, but they are a lot of fun to read.

are the polls ALL the same? meaning do you lead with “Disapprove” in first slot for each pol polled?

  3. Delaware Dem says:

The way the poll should appear on the front page before you vote in it is as follows:

    Strongly Approve
    Approve
    Disapprove
    Strongly Disapprove
    Undecided / Meh

Once you vote in the poll, you see the results, and the choices are listed with the option with the most votes at the top and on down.

Now, this is an internet poll or an un-random and shockingly small sample. So concerns for the consistency of the poll are really misplaced.

I mistakenly voted ‘Strongly Disapprove’ by not paying close attention to the order of the choices. I meant to vote ‘Strongly Approve’, and did, in fact, from another machine. I didn’t want to freep the poll, but did want to cast one accurate vote. In that sense, I think the order of the choices does matter – the consistency, that is, not necessarily what order it is.

I remember the Dept. of Insurance website when Matt was insurance commissioner. It was full of helpful information and truly consumer-oriented and self-effacing, and that’s the way he’s conducted the office of Lt. Governor. No wonder his approval ratings are high. Contrast that with the self-aggrandizing bullshit about things she had nothing to do with, and the four or five mostly old pictures of herself the present incumbent made the department’s IT people post on their home page, which under her tenure has become just a vanity page for the narcissistic moron that is KWS. She won’t be able fool the voters again this time like she did in 2008.

To the virtues listed, I would add that Denn is an unapologetic Democrat.
