Chris Christie: Less Superman, More Clark Kent

I’ve drawn Chris Christie a lot as Superman. After all, isn’t he the guy who flew into Trenton promising to rid New Jersey of public corruption, property taxes and to fight against an oppressive government for the will of the people?

Well, by vetoing a same-sex marriage bill that a majority of New Jerseyans supported, Christie has proven who the true leaders are – Republican party officials that hate the whiff of anything gay.

“Same-sex couples in a civil union deserve the very same rights and benefits enjoyed by married couples – as well as the strict enforcement of those rights and benefits.” That’s what Christie had the audacity to say after vetoing a law that would have granted just that.

    RE Christie being boxed in by Republican lunacy, I like the parallelism Tornoe employs to connect these Republican lies: “(Christie is boxed in by) Republicans who think contraception is bad, rich people are overtaxed and yes – that homosexuals shouldn’t marry.”

    Cory Booker has been a vocal and eloquent counterweight to Christie’s hypocrisy. The way to appeal to he teajadis is to be sure to threaten and curtail the freedom of Other People.
