The Truth Is Stranger Than Fiction

Filed in National by on February 18, 2012

Do you remember this ad from the 2008 campaign?

The man appearing with John McCain is Pinal County, Arizona Sheriff Paul Babeu. He’s a rising star in the Republican party and Arizona chair of Romney’s campaign. (He spoke at CPAC just last week.) He was planning to run for a Congressional seat…or he was until this story came out:

Paul Babeu’s Mexican Ex-Lover Says Sheriff’s Attorney Threatened Him With Deportation.

Did I mention Babeu’s ex-lover is a man? If I was browsing for a work of fiction I would reject this story as just too absurd. Anyway, go read the whole thing. It has pictures!

UPDATE: Babeu admits in his press conference that he is gay and that he had a relationship with the accuser but denies he threatened deportation.

it took some effort to assume the crown of most bizarre Sherif in Arizona. This guy could still get elected to Congress in crazin’ Arizona!

There’s one more workin’ on his wide stance — a former Houston city councilperson and conservative radio host whose car was involved in a crazy hit and run outside of a gay bar. A gay bar that he was seen in prior.

“Senator, you’re one of us.” Click those heels together, Johnny!

LOL. Guess they all are trying to clutch their pearls before Mardi Gras is over.

The sheriff isn’t actually that bad looking. My guess is that he’s a bottom (most closet cases are).

What will be really interesting about the sheriff Babeu situation will be the gymnastic contortions of the hard core SOCONs, who will have to support his campaign but cannot abide his sexual preferences. It should be entertaining to see how much slack there is in their principles!
