Frothmentum Continues

The respected Des Moines Register’s final Iowa Poll, often considered the final word on caucus, shows Mitt Romney leading at 24%, followed by Ron Paul at 22%, Rick Santorum at 15%, Newt Gingrich at 12%, Rick Perry at 11%, Michele Bachmann at 7%. But, there is more to the story:

“[The four-day results don’t reflect just how quickly momentum is shifting in a race that has remained highly fluid for months. If the final two days of polling are considered separately, Santorum rises to second place, with 21%, pushing Paul to third, at 18%. Romney remains the same, at 24%.”

This implies that some of Ron Paul’s support is bleeding over to Santorum, which is odd, considering how vastly different the two candidates are. Santorum is a theocratic fascist, and Paul is a bigoted libertarian, and their only commonality is that they hate people who are different than them. Thus, you would have to conclude that there is just a large part of the GOP primary electorate that squats on who seems to the the trendy Non-Romney of the week. If they all decide it’s Santorum at the right time, like Tuesday, than Santorum is going to win the Iowa caucus.
