“The health bill that Governor Romney signed into law this month has tremendous potential to effect major change in the American health system.” — Newt Gingrich in an April 2006 newsletter found by the Wall Street Journal, voicing enthusiasm for Mitt Romney’s Massachusetts health-care law. This damages both Romney and Gingrich, for it makes Gingrich look like a hypocrite for denouncing the plan, and it reminds everyone that Romney was the founding father of Obamacare.

The latest Gallup tracking poll still finds Newt Gingrich clinging to lead nationally among Republican voters with 26%, followed by Mitt Romney at 23%, Ron Paul at 12%, Rick Perry at 8%, Michele Bachmann at 6%, Rick Santorum at 3% and Jon Huntsman at 1%

In the same tracking poll, President Obama’s numbers have entered net positive territory at 47% approve, 45% disapprove, for the first time in a while.

Mainstream journalists are starting to pay attention to Ron Paul and his platform. Which is good, because why it is nice to investigate stupid racist newsletters from 20 years ago, the more important thing is to expose his actual radical ideas to scruntiny. Since he is a plausible Iowa caucus win away from being the frontrunner for the GOP nomination.

Good Ron Paul cartoon — it seems about right.

I and my fellow workers can not listen to Mr. C. Flaherty filling in for Al Mascitti in the morning for too much longer. Today he gave Lee way too much time on a call, and they were having having a conservative moment for wayyyy too long. I think I threw up in my mouth a little.
So Mr. Mascitti, I know you read this blog, and its been a while since you’ve had a vacation but please, please , for the love of all that’s sacred, go back to work soon.

I agree with Grin. I had to switch to the oldies station while I was out running errands yesterday morning. Come back Al, come back soon.

  5. Al Mascitti says:

Grin and Auntie: Thanks for the kind words. I’m off this week, back on for one week, then off for one more. I hate taking vacation, but after nearly two vacation-free years, Mrs. M. put her foot down.

Colin isn’t as bad as he sounds. He was actually a liberal for many years — he’s in a picture protesting at the Republican Convention in Hunter Thompson’s “Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail” — but too many years in the conservative Eden, San Diego, softened his mind and hardened his heart. There’s still a Catholic kid under there somewhere, so if you’re motivated to call, the best line of attack is on his conscience. But you didn’t hear that from me.

Colin Flagherty is a rascist. His rants whenever a mike is in front of him proves what he thinks. Why not just have John on at least John is truthful and provides lots of information we all need. But I agree Al, weekday mornings arent the same without ya!
