How should we thank OWS and Occupy Delaware for changing the debate?

Filed in National by on December 7, 2011

Chuck Schumer (D-NY) recently pointed out that the political plates have shifted, and that the GOP is having a “tough time messaging their way out of the box they’ve put themselves in now that the country’s clamoring for fairness for the middle class even if it means higher taxes on wealthy people.”

We need to thank OSW and Occupy Delaware for that, because it sure as hell wasn’t “Democratic” Congressman John Carney leading the push back. Schumer doesn’t come right out and mention OWS, but he might as well have.

“We’ve had four republicans now talk about taxes on incomes of over a million dollars. If you don’t keep at it you’re not going to change their view and the purpose is that the public comes to our side on this issue and they feel it.”

Awesome. But what now? How about we thank Occupy Delaware in some tangible way. I know they need tarps and stuff, but I’m open to suggestions. The floor is yours.

I live nearby and I catch the bus to work across the street, in front of the State building. I’m pleasantly surprised that there are porta-potties at the Occupy Delaware site. I gave them a teeny, tiny cash donations a few weeks back and I will give them some more cash and hopefully some goods.

Carney, who I didn’t have a lot of positive expectations for, sounds like he’s been borrowing talking points from Eric Cantor. He’s also been going to St. Joseph’s RC church, one block from Occupy Delaware, for the last few weeks so it’s not like he isn’t in a position to see them and know what they are all about.

Yes all the OWS arrests, rapes, drug use, public defecation, murders and the like have indeed changed the debate. Liberals must privately squirm that these mopes are the best that liberals can muster. I cannot wait to see these OD fools occupying a blizzard this winter.
