UPDATED: Democrats For Kovach (or whatever loser they pick to run against Carney)
This is the perfect opportunity to throw away a “message” vote. There is no way Carney is going to lose to that RWNJ freak Kovatch. Nor will he lose whatever loser that runs in place of Kovack.
Both Carney and the eventual Republican candidate will be talking about how goddam important it is to cut the deficit and reduce benefits for Senior “current medicaid recipients will not be effected” ™ and veterans, so why the fuck not vote for the Republican dumbass this time out?
When Carney has to sweat out a closer than expected 52/48 win on election night – maybe he’ll go back to Washington with a clear head.

Bill Dunn Running for NCCo President
Bill Dunn ran a very competitive campaign against Paul Clark in the Dem primary for NCCo President in 2008. You also know him from his work on the Civic League of New Castle County. Bill has lots of supporters among the readers of this blog, so do your best to get out and support him as he announces.

Is This What The Secret Service Is Intended For?
[Cain spokesman JD Gordon] would not say how many Secret Service agents would be positioned with Cain, but the spokesman said the coverage began Thursday night in New York, where Cain taped an interview on the “Late Show with David Letterman.”On the campaign trail, Cain “draws anywhere from a dozen to 50 media at his events,” Gordon said. “When he gets out at a rally or a campaign stop, it has been increasingly common for media to be physically putting themselves and others in danger by trying to follow him with a lot of heavy equipment and cameras in close quarters like we saw yesterday

Friday Open Thread [11.18.11]
There is hope for us yet. In Arizona, the Arizona Supreme Court overturned Mein Fuhrer Frau Jan Brewer (R) and reinstated the chair of the state’s Independent Redistricting Commission Colleen Mathis. This is an humiliating rebuke to the Republican Party in Arizona, who thought they could just removed the head of an independent agency without cause, or any good reason at all really, and no one would dare question them on it. Good for the Supreme Court to stand up to such bare partisan thievery.

OK, Occupy, that was stupid.
The Occupy Wall Street movement has been incredibly successful in changing the debate in this country, away from austerity and budget cuts and slashing social programs to further enrich the rich, and toward unemployment and the horrible income disparity that is pervasive in our society. The Occupy movement has once again engaged and inspired the young into direct political action, which is wonderful.
I still support the Occupy movement, but it is time the movement rethink its tactics. Today’s Day of Action and the resulting arrests, violence and horrible traffic and transit disruptions in NYC and Philly will probably lose the protestors support they were already losing.

Just Evil.
Federal law enforcement authorities yesterday arrested a 21-year-old Idaho man suspected of shooting with a semiautomatic rifle at the White House on Friday night, as the Secret Service reported finding that at least one bullet had indeed struck the presidential residence. In response to this, on Twitter, the president of the College Republicans at the University of Texas, Lauren Pierce, had this to say:

Slam Quote of the Day
“He did ask if I could debate here in Washington on Monday. It is my understanding that such a letter has come in. Monday I’m going to be in Portland in the morning, I’m going to be visiting some of our labs. I’m in California in the afternoon, that’s two. I can’t remember what the third is.” — House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), quoted by Politico, rebuffing Rick Perry’s request for a debate on overhauling Washington, DC.

Thursday Open Thread [11.17.11]
A new Iowa State University/Gazette/KCRG poll in Iowa finds Herman Cain still leading the Republican field with 25%, followed by Ron Paul at 20%, Mitt Romney at 16%, Rick Perry at 8%, Michele Bachmann at 8%, Newt Gingrich at 5% and Rick Santorum at 5%. Wouldn’t it be something if Ron Paul actually won both Iowa and New Hampshire. It is very possible.

The Big Guy is Running Again
Former Sussex County Recorder of Deeds John Brady has announced that he is running for Clerk of the Peace next year. Affectionately known as “The Big Guy,” Brady will be seeking the office being abandoned by homophobe George “Bad Wig” Parish. Brady switched back to the Democratic Party after the 2008 election.

I Watched PolitiChicks So You Don’t Have To… But I Bet You Watch
This is a whole new level of stupid. First, what sort of grown woman is comfortable calling herself a chick? Second, if surrounding these women with books was supposed to add intellectual heft it was a huge fail. There aren’t enough books in the world…

I call it the Honeymoon Glow, because there is simply no way Newton Leroy Gingrich is more competitive against President Obama than Mitt Romney, but that is what a new McClatchy-Marist poll finds.

Coons’ cutely named AGREE Act
When one of Delaware’s elected Democratic Senators starts talking bipartisanship, I get very suspicious, because it usually means Republicans get what they want. And with Senator Coons’ recent talk of “tax code reform” in response to any question about raising taxes on the richest 1% in this country, in response to closing corporate loopholes and giveways, and his talk of reforming entitlements, I suppose I have to look at any proposal from his office made in conjunction with a teabagger very closely and very skeptically.

It is the 21st Century after all…
In the News Journal story this morning on the continuing recovery and rehabilitation of Sussex County Councilman Vance Phillips, and the logistical problems his continued absence is presenting the Council, Sussex County Attorney Everett Moore says that Phillips cannot attend council meetings remotely, by either Skype, teleconference or videoconference because Delaware’s Freedom of Information Act expressly prohibits public bodies whose members are elected from participating via videoconference.

Mayor Baker is Exhibit A in why Wilmington Needs a Two Term Limit for Mayors
It just makes sense. Because if you go three terms, then you might become a cranky old asshole who cusses out anyone and everyone at every opportunity.

I am the healthiest person here.
I love pizza. It’s my comfort food. Yet I try to stay away from it because too much pizza is not a healthy thing. All that cheese, grease, and carb ladden dough. But it turns out that I was wrong all along. For you see, I had not considered the obviously true fact that a pizza slice, what with its one to two tablespoon of tomato paste or sauce, was a healthy vegetable. At least…. according to congressional Republicans.

Tuesday Open Thread [11.15.11]
President Obama leads Mitt Romney by 6, with 49% to Romney’s 43%, and Herman Cain by 9, 49% to Cain’s 40%. They didn’t poll how the new Republican frontrunner, Newton Leroy Gingrich (yes, that’s his middle name) polls against Obama, but I would expect a Cain like performance at best.
