What’s A Governor to Do?

Filed in National by on October 22, 2011

Arizona governor Jan Brewer’s lawsuit against the Obama administration over the security of the border with Mexico has been tossed by the courts.

Brewer’s suit was a counter-claim against the Administration’s suit over Arizona’s draconian immigration enforcement law.

Bolton said Brewer’s claim that Washington has failed to protect Arizona from an “invasion” of illegal immigrants was a political question that isn’t appropriate for the court to decide.

The judge also barred some of Brewer’s claims because the issues were dealt with in a 1994 case by Arizona and can’t be litigated again. Court precedent also requires the dismissal of some claims, Bolton wrote.

“While Arizona may disagree with the established enforcement priorities, Arizona’s allegations do not give rise to a claim that the counter-defendants (the federal government) have abdicated their statutory responsibilities,” Bolton wrote.

So what is Brewer’s next step? Well, she’s getting the old gang together to do a sequel to her 1994 hit The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. Here’s a publicity shot from the sequel.

You have to admit that they could be twins.

    No I don’t! 😉

Terence Stamp’s character(s) in that movie were elegant and thoughtful — two adjectives I’m pretty sure have never come near Brewer.

  5. MJ says:

Cass – I’m just going on looks, not character, which Brewer is lacking.

  6. cassandra_m says:

    Still.

If Terence Stamp showed up here to smack you for that comparison, I wouldn’t stop him.

Actually, Cass, I think he’d give Brewer some fashion and make-up tips. Hell, any of the drag queens down here could do that. 🙂
