    Awesome.

  2. Auntie Dem says:

They’ve been scaring the foo out of us for the past three years. Now it’s to to scare them back. Very appropriate with Halloween and all.

so I was in Rodney Square for lunch at about 1(they have a really cute little farmer’s market on wednesdays). here’s what went down.

3 college-age girls in V for Vendetta/Anonymous masks yelling stuff about the 99% and draping themselves over the caesar rodney statue. The had a photographer with them. They were trying to yell their email address but then the market vendors around them decided they should yell too, so mostly you just heard the email address for the verizon phone booth. I only saw them yell for like 5 minutes but i may have missed some.

Then they were interviewed by a NJ beat reporter and his photographer for a pretty long time, like 20-25 minutes. I guess he got a tip they’d be there. After he finished talked to them and moved on to interview some bank dude near the organic lunch stand, they just sort of left. It was probably like 1:40.

You need hippies to get the ball rolling. Not enough hippies in Delaware.

  5. anon says:

Howard Dean backs Occupy Wall Street….there are plenty of ole hippies in Delaware. Now that Dean has spoken will you liberals get on board…or still wanna fence sit and throw barbs.

Big turnout on Wall Street today. Here is some video of protesters confronting a Wall Street executive: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8yjNbcKkNY

Stay tuned for DelawareLiberal’s planned action to support Occupy Wall St.

  8. Dana Garrett says:

Thanks for putting this up. The first meeting was well attended. I have reason to believe that the next meeting will be even more so.

  9. Miranda says:

Haha, I was one of the three women protesting today and I can assure you that none of us are college-aged. But thanks for the compliment! I am closer to 40 than thirty!

  10. V says:

well clearly i should have approached and asked about your skin care regimine.

  11. justathought says:

I was inspired by the turnout we did have. Apparently, according to the lawyer who attended from the lawyers guild, from Philly, said our initial meeting had about double the attendees that the first Philly meeting had. We now have some working committees and hopefully a more convenient location for our next meeting…to be announced on the Occupy Delaware Facebook page.

And yes, it takes a hippie to get the ball rolling, but it takes the technology and energy of the younger to get it on the move.

The News Journal ran an article about the first little protest at Rodney Square. It’s now been deleted, but you can find it through Google cache.
