Blue Hen Football Prediction: Week 3

Filed in National by on September 16, 2011

Of all the major college sports, football is the most momentum based. A losing team wilts under the weight of its own low expectations, and a winning team picks up steam as the season unfolds. A wining team is like a spinning fly wheel, with each rotation multiplying the torque or some shit like that. I’m not sure, I’m no physicist. In fact, I can barely spell physicist. (My first three attempts at spelling that word confounded my poor overburden spell checker and cause it to suggest that I was trying to spell the word “psychotic.” True story.) BUT I DO KNOW THIS….

Delaware State comes to this Saturday’s trip to Newark 2-0 with wins over VMI and Division II Shaw. Delaware opened the season 1-1. Losing to Navy by more than expected and wining in West Chester by less than expected.

Put all that in your sports themed Boggle ™ cube, shake it up, turn it over and scribble this down…

Hornets 45 Hens 42

As three generation BLUE HEN season ticket holders I must admit I find your expectations to be right on the money .Should be a great game and it is with much satisfaction that it is a regular game .

  2. skippertee says:

I just like the inner-state rivalry that should have been scheduled for years.
Pride and prejudice negated a meeting between our TWO state funded universities for years.
    What a waste.

  3. meatball says:

I think you peeps are all just a bit (alot) crazy. Isn’t football just war with a differnt name? Progressives, my ass. Any competition in the physist market, dicks?

  4. Geezer says:

“Any competition in the physist market, dicks?”

We have a new leader in this week’s Most Incomprehensible Comment contest.

I was just thinking the same thing. As far as the prediction is concerned, reading today that DSU’s best receiver is out gives me pause. As with last year, I just hope it is a good game. We’re tailgating in the parking lot off Rt. 4. Along the tree line. Drop by for a brat and a beer if you are in the area.

  6. V says:

riduculous. The WCU game IS usually a blowout BUT so has the Del state game in the past. I feel like the first year it was 40-something to 7? Hens win, maybe not by as much as they should, but hens win. I’m disappointed in you Jason.

also, who else is going to the game? verdict on this Call of the Blue Hen shenanigans? I say ridiculous.

  7. mediawatch says:

Must have been a Rethug troll who posted that 45-42 prediction.

  8. jason330 says:

What was with the attendance? I’ve never been to a Delaware game like that. I think the new season ticket/pricing donation deal needs some tinkering.

As for the prediction…I was close on the U of D score.

  9. V says:

    hahah i rest my case.

I’ve heard attendance is WAY down. partially i think the season ticketholder bashing is to blame (i personally know a lot of people who stopped getting them because of the additional payments for parking/”donations”) and they’ve cut down on tailgating with the students (the fraternity pile-up that happens every game was shut down this week before it was even started) who now ALSO have to get tickets in advance instead of just show up and get their ID.

  10. jason330 says:

I think they decided to take big hit this year for future $millions.

  11. Belinsky says:

DelState’s men have a better cross country team.

  12. Delaware Dem says:

    45-0.

And Jason also misread the Eagles game last night.

Jason, please don’t make any predictions about my beloved Phillies.
