Celia Cohen Attends DEGOP Fundraisers So You Don’t Have To

Celia writes with the ennui of someone who has lived through a golden age. She no doubt feels that at this point in her career, she should be breathlessly reporting on the temples being dedicated to the Gods who walked among us; DuPont, Roth, Castle, Carper. She basically comes out and says it:

This was the last of the country club Republicans, the ones who dominated the state in the 1970s and 1980s when Pete du Pont and Mike Castle were the governors and Bill Roth was the senator with breathtakingly national stature, famous for the Roth-Kemp tax cut and the Roth IRA.

Instead of reporting on monuments and signs of apotheosis, she looks over a blighted landscape with squinted eyes, trying to see what she once saw. Instead of the dedication of monuments, she is an ashen courtesan writing about a political party with no candidates.

It does have a Grey Gardens feel about it.

No point in Celia covering the new GOP teabaggers. She has no contacts, and besides their parties suck.

I’m pissed you used the word ennui. I was going to use it in my description of how I feel about the jobs bill.

Who will the “progressives” pick for Insurance commish? aah the wonderment of the so called Delaware progressives.

Mitch Crane. But your snark points out the importance of a decent endorsment job by PDD.

All meaningful races are Democratic primaries now. Progressives need to be active early in the process because we’ll actually have a great impact on who gets elected as the GOP self destructs.

Actually I believe the Republican party is being destroyed, not simply because they can’t manage, but because they no longer are allowed to operate in the dark…

Here in Delaware, their ideas get challenged, and wither under the bright glare of logic and facts…

Such as, when the official Republican solution to success, is to wait for a Santa Clause to land on your roof with elf made toys, once the opposition offers satellite photo’s of the North Pole, then, no one is giving you much credence… That actually happened in Delaware.

Today I see blogger’s influence even in the News Journal and upon Rick Jensen. Today they are afraid to make some of the statements they made in the past, for fear of being called out in public and looking foolish.

Instead of propaganda, they are more attune to proffering facts. And facts,… always line up to support the Democrats side…

In her latest attempt at journalism, Celia Cohen tells us all about the politics of redistricting the General Assembly (http://delawaregrapevine.com/9-11legisraces.asp) two months after El Som laid it all out for us at DL.
If Celia is writing about GOP fundraisers so we don’t have to attend them, El Som is writing about key political issues long before Celia even starts thinking about them.

Cohen’s reapportionment article has a number of angles not considered here before. Read and enjoy.

I’m particularly enjoying the thought of primary challenges to Brady and DeLuca – 368 days from today – and the comeuppance to Joe Booth.

McDowell should not feel too comfortable, either. He’s drawn himself a largely palefaced district, in hopes of avoiding a primary from a black challenger. A quality challenger, with minimal baggage, of whatever background, could end his legislative career.

St. Bodie Girl is cashing in more of his CD’s so he can go after Booth. And he’s now an ED chair, so he feels he really has some power. Let’s just hope he doesn’t wear those white high heels until after Memorial Day.
