President Cantor Issues Disaster Spending Executive Order

Filed in National by on August 25, 2011

God oh mighty this shit is depressing.

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) will extend his requirement that federal disaster relief be paid for by cutting spending elsewhere in the budget to Hurricane Irene.

“We aren’t going to speculate on damage before it happens, period,” his spokesperson Laena Fallon emails. “But, as you know, Eric has consistently said that additional funds for federal disaster relief ought to be offset with spending cuts.”

We are ruled by morons.

This guy is only an honest, professional diagnosis away from becoming Majority Leader in an insane asylum. Anyone who subscribes to this nutbaggery, whether a constituent or fellow member of his caucus would make up a very entertaining cast for a “Cuckoos Nest” remake. Unfortunately it’s not theater but a frighteningly sick reality show that we are experiencing.

Can’t the relief bill originate in the Senate and make Cantor vote against it? Or will Senate Dems just accept Cantor’s proclamation and do nothing.

The specter of Katrina is a risk for any politician who takes this storm too lightly.

I have a feeling this storm is going to tear up a lot of s**t in some very wealthy neighborhoods. People who won’t be so easily ignored.
