The Irony of the Day
The whole point of the Standard & Poor’s downgrade was to cast doubt on U.S. debt, given the political instability caused by unhinged Republicans. And the first trading after the S&P downgrade, anxiety-ridden investors turned to … U.S. debt.
Credit where credit is due.
Once a century, a Fox News anchor gets it right. Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly had the disgustingly evil radio talk show host Mike Gallagher on her show this afternoon, and she played back audio from the time when he said on his show: “Megyn’s still on maternity leave, isn’t she? Boy, what a racket that is.” She promptly destroys him. Click through for the video and the transcript.
Are Castle and Cohen right about eliminating the separate election for Lt. Governor?
In 25 states, the governor and lieutenant governor are elected on the same ticket, ensuring that they come from the same political party. In the remaining 18 states, like Delaware, they are elected separately and, thus, may come from different parties. Castle and Cohen want to do away with the separate elections, while Lt. Governor Denn is just fine with it. Your thoughts?
Interestingly… Obama’s poll numbers are rising…
Gallup has just released a report regarding its findings from its polling from January until June of this year of each individual state. Gallup interviewed 90,000 American adults over the course of the last six month, and they found that the President is above 50% in approval in 16 states, including many important swing states.

I always love it when I am told when and where it is appropriate to discuss something, although I do admire the real skill and concurrent idiocy that Joe Klein displays in contradicting himself one sentence later in telling us how crucial the discussion is.

This is what they wanted.
This is what the Tea Party wanted. A credit downgrade. And yet, they are blaming the President for it. So how do they live in a world where something they wanted happens and they are supposedly upset about it?
