Republican Wants To Impeach Obama If Republicans Fail To Raise The Debt Ceiling

Filed in National by on July 26, 2011

House Republicans are lunatics. More idiocy from the GOP Suicide Squad:

As Republican refusal to negotiate on the debt ceiling pushes the country ever closer to the brink of default, one Iowa congressman sees the impending financial collapse as cause for impeaching President Obama.

This morning, Rep. Steve King (R-IA) sent out a tweet imploring followers to “STOP talking about default. […] Obama would be impeached if he blocked debt payments.”

So he supports the 14th Amendment option?

Rep King is right. But NO ONE has suggested that we won’t pay debt payments. It is exactly the opposite. The debt payments will be done first and after that we will have to decide between paying the troops and paying Social Security.

Personally, I think that Obama should pay Social Security and then use the 14th amendment to pay the troops… But announce that the money that he is spending under the 14th is to withdraw the troops. And order the Generals to get the troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan with all due haste.

When ThinkProgress spoke with King recently and asked him if he could accept a debt ceiling deal that included $3 trillion in cuts and just $8 in revenue increases, the Iowa congressman refused, declaring, “I’m not for raising taxes.”

Someone said, stop blaming Washington. Blame Iowa for sending King. Blame Florida for sending West.

I blame myself for Sending Obama

  5. A long time ago we lost the realization that this is a manufactured crisis, not by President Obama, but by the Republican leadership of the House. A one line bill to raise the debt ceiling is all that is needed, none of this other junk and using the nation’s economy as a hostage. It probably says something about the GOP demands that they need to hold the entire economy hostage to get their crazy agenda through.

Must say that I join you in being confused about who is violating the constitution. If Congress won’t pass a bill, then hitting the debt ceiling is their fault.

This talk about impeaching Obama has been upchucking here & there among the Republicans lately. I wonder if the idea is being field tested because the Republicans are considering the impeachment process as part of their 2012 campaign strategy.
