I’m not even sure what TSD is, so I’m making no promises about the content. (My contribution, when they get around to posting it, is pretty good.) In addition to being a liberal, I am a business owner and I have co-authored a book on the topic of employee satisfaction. I see employee engagement as the best way for companies to build a durable competitive advantage in the post tech-boom world. Delaware companies that “get it” are going to be the focus of my writerly efforts for as long as TSD can stomach having a liberal on the contributor’s list.

What’s that? A little snark already? Oh yes.

If you want to read a bright, sunny introductory post about TSD read Tommywonk’s. If you want to read about TSD from someone who is jaded by a few years of dealing with Delaware Republicans read on.

For now consider me a TSD skeptic. All I know about townsquaredelaware.com is what the “about” page says about townsquaredelaware.com. Mainly, that it is supposed to be a non-partisan “forum for the most productive, provocative and positive dialogue about the issues, people and places that make our state unique.”

That sounds worthy, right? But read the contributors list and you will see that Delaware Republican contributors out number Democrats by about 9 to 1. Worse still, one of the contributors is the execrable CRI’s extremely execrable John Stapleford, and another well known Delaware Republican came out swinging against Jack Markell on day one. Day one! Hurray for non-partisanship! Hurray for positive dialogue!

Beyond that all I know is that they aren’t saying who is behind it and that makes me a little nervous. We’ll see what happens. Tom Noyes might know more about this operation than I do, so maybe he is right to be sunny and I am wrong to be gloomy.

It certainly would not be the first time he was right and I was wrong.

I was recruited by Maria Evans who I like because she is awesome and respect because she is one of the few Republicans in Delaware who acknowledges the fact that the DE GOP is full of shit.

I had no idea I was going to be sharing space with the likes of Copeland and Stapleford.

The secret synchronized rollout is creepy. I think this is a third-generation blog with a business plan.

Well a little communication would have been nice. I like the idea and I think the concept is meritorious even if it is for profit. (In spite of what Republicans want to believe, Liberals are not anti-capitalist)

It’s his money it’s his risk God bless him. Dave has a bit of a history of rocky ventures, pethaps this is the “One”. Always room for conversation.

Jason, lie down with dogs much? ‘o)

I hope this works out and truly is non-partisan. It doesn’t sound like it from your description. It sounds like Burris putting on sheep’s clothing because more people read DL than any of his ventures.

Just remember, whenever a Republican wins another angel loses her wings — or was it her bell? Whatever, we’re screwed.

    Let’s see …

Delaware Politics: Now in hands of David Anderson.
    Delaware Talk Radio: Dead.
    Delaware Tomorrow: Dead.
    Coastal Sussex Weekly: Dead.

Online media and Dave Burris haven’t meshed all that well.

Rick Jenson referred to this bunch as Delawares Huffington Post? What is he smokin! While it would be great to have another blog in Delaware, a right wing one isnt the answer!

Let me clear that I have nothing against Dave. If I had known that he was behind this, and that it was for profit, I still would have signed up because I love the idea of a regular column about Delaware businesses that are committed to employee engagement. I’m still down with the idea, it has just been a real strange trip today trying to get a straight answer about what is the bottom line with the site.

And for the record, I do have something against Stapleford who is a low down lying, corporate schilling bastard. While I can almost forgive most Republicans who simply parrot bullshit talking points – Stapleford’s work at CRI is unforgivable. He generates the bullshit, global warming denying, wind power gives you cancer talking points that the clueless GOP rank and file pick up as gospel.

I think there’s plenty of room in Delaware for another blog. The secrecy and strange rollout make me suspicious, and I’m suspicious of a non-partisan blog that’s mainly Republican contributors. I hope it works out, there is definitely some good people there.

Dave Anderson is excrement to be scraped off the Delaware political boot. If you looking to find something nice about him then your head is up your own ass. John Stapleford is another prick. John’s story is about to come out, but everybody knew already what cri was about. Midgets with hard-ons. Mental as well as midgets one could drown in a bathtub.

Well, Dave Burris is another matter. Great guy. Wrong party. Pardon me, I shall allow myself out.

Joe always does – that;s why I love him 🙂

    yo Joe!! Tiocfaidh ar la!!

    not always the common/currant usage

I’m not into the tease, Aoine. I’m all about the action. Dress it up pretty but I promise everyone gets sloppy in the end.

Jason: Someone else at CRI is in charge of climate denial and wind-energy attacks. Stapleford’s specialty is putting the “dismal” in the dismal science.

That might be an interesting thread to pull on to figure out who is funding CRI.

I am starting to get the idea of TSD – to create a forest of utterly innocuous articles in which the same old wingnut stuff can hide.

If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be?

  16. Jason330

I’m planning on bringing a flame flower to any wingnut CRI posts that go up. I hope you’ll join me.

Jason, but will Dave publish your stuff?

Andye Daley was invited to post at THD by Fleming and she submitted two ferocious pieces already on DelDOT –her area of expertise– that aren’t up yet. I am truly wondering what gets filtered and what gets the nod over there. I hope they prove me wrong and go ahead and post your flamin’ liberal rants!
    *going over to check now*

I was asked to write about an area of my interests that overlaps with politics from time to time. I will not shy away from politics when that overlap happens.
