Holocaust Memorial Day

Filed in International by on May 1, 2011

Today is Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Memorial Day, the 27th Day of Nisan on the Jewish Calendar. It is a day that is set aside to remember the Six Million Jews that were slaughtered at the hands of Nazi Germany from 1933-1945.

We also remember the millions of gays, Roma, political dissidents, and opponents of the Nazi regime who were also systematically murdered during this time.

It is a story that we should never forget. And we must force ourselves not to forget.

And because we must never forget, we must also call out those who would compare us to Nazis because of our political views.

Never Again!

I will invest in a calendar like yours, MJ.
    This has caught me flat-footed.
I will pray for the millions today.
    I’ll fight fascism tomorrow.

#Skipper and MJ – and Im right along with the two of you
    as always……

altho – on a lighter – note today is also the ancient feast of Beltine – the Celtic day of fertility where the Oak King is called upon to do his duty by the land

I allways laugh to think of the ritual of “dancing around the Maypole”. Didnt anyone ever tell them what that symbolised?
