Weekend Open Thread

Filed in National by on February 19, 2011

Welcome to your weekend open thread. It looks like our false spring is already over. It was fun while it lasted.

Today is a Wisconsin protests version of the open thread. Today the Breitbart-organized counterprotestors are supposed to be bussed into Madison. That should be interesting.

I think you’ll get a kick out of this. A Fox News reporter covering the Wisconsin protests gets drowned out by chants of “Fox Lies!”

We’re not the only ones seeing the parallels between the Egyptian protests and Wisconsin:

Everyone have a nice weekend!

So what’s going on with John Carney? I thought this site might have a comment on some of his recent votes. He voted against the majority of Democrats in voting for the extension of the expiring provisions of the Patriot Act. Then he went against the majority of his party again when he voted not to kill that engine project that the Pentagon didn’t want for the fighter we don’t need. Did someone forget to explain to John how to cast a vote, or did he switch his D to an R without telling anybody?

Hey, I commented on “Repeal The Job-Killing Speaker Of The House” thread about the engine vote, sent a LTE.
I pulled ALL the D’s but the one for this DINO when I voted, and NO, I did NOT pull it it for JERKHART!
He’s as slimy as that CARPETBAGGER CARPER and appears to be slipping into the ooze of Washington quite happily, and enjoying the foul odors.

A modest proposal for Planned Parenthood:

It is clear that Planned Parenthood is not addressing the needs of a large and powerful constituency: middle-to-senior aged males. Elected officials tend to fall in this group, and the results are clear in the nationwide efforts to remove funding from Planned Parenthood.

Another large constituency is middle-aged to senior conservative women, who oppose Planned Parenthood, and tend to be married to said males.

Planned Parenthood has nothing to offer either of these groups, and has clearly alienated them, to the detriment of the organization and the patients it serves.

Therefore, I suggest that Planned Parenthood begin providing FREE VIAGRA and other ED services, no questions asked, to anyone who walks through the door. I believe this will immediately win over the middle aged conservative males.

And once these old conservative men begin receiving free Viagra, I suggest Planned Parenthood begin offering FREE XANAX and other anti-anxiety medications to their wives, also no questions asked. This will win over the church lady constituency.

Once this is accomplished, I believe Planned Parenthood lobbyists will be able to easily get state and federal funding restored for its non-abortion services.

    Thank you.

I love the protestors calling out the Faux News Channel. That is great!

These people are willing to compromise and their Governor will have no part of it. He is going to stay true to what he says is right. Why is it that the state employee has to be the one to bear the whole burden here? Keep fighting, folks. Some cuts may be understandable and they seem to be agreeable to that fact. Drastic cutting while taking away their rights to bargain is over the top.

    WWB, Capt.Willard

The question is, are Carney, Carper, Markell in the democrat’s corner?

There are more poor, middle class voters, than rich and that’s what it is boiling down to.

It’s interesting the republicans were able to use tea publicans to increase the republican turnout.

The democrat base will not be fooled as they watch and feel the real turn of political events. If ‘pretend democrats’ do nothing for democrats, impostors will quickly be primaried by real democrats.
