Friday Open Thread

Welcome to your Friday open thread. Yay for Friday! (Your views may differ) What’s on your mind today? Does anyone have big plans for Valentine’s Day?

PPP Polls finds that the GOP honeymoon is over. There’s been a huge swing in the generic Congressional ballot towards Democrats.

Beyond Boehner’s numbers the most amazing thing on our poll this week is that not only are Democrats back ahead on the generic Congressional ballot by a 45-41 margin, but they’re ahead by a 38-31 margin with independents! That’s a quite change from what we saw over the course of 2009 and 2010. The four point lead for Democrats on the generic ballot represents an 11 point shift from the November elections and there were more than 40 districts that Democrats lost by that margin or less so if we went to the polls today under the current district configuration it’s entirely possible Democrats would get their House majority right back. Of course redistricting will give Republicans some opportunities to shore things up for themselves but at any rate the honeymoon, such as it ever was, looks to be over.

So, the anti-woman, who-cares-about-jobs agenda isn’t really that popular? I’m shocked! I guess people had to be reminded why they didn’t like Republicans?

Donald Trump may run for president. He spoke at the CPAC conference yesterday and apparently got a good reception. He knows his audience – he started out with a birther joke.

You gotta’ give Donald Trump credit, because he knows how conservatives get their jollies: by pretending that President Obama isn’t a real American.

Our current president came out of nowhere. Came out of nowhere. In fact, I’ll go a step further: the people that went to school with him, they don’t even know him. They never saw him. They don’t know who he is. It’s crazy. [Wild applause.]

With no track record — and, I will tell you, he’s got nothing to criticize. He’s a wonderful guy, he’s a name man, but there was no record. Nothing to criticize. He didn’t go in wars. He didn’t go in battles. He didn’t beat this one, that one, have enemies all over the place. Nobody knew who the hell he was. He’s now our president! He’s our president! [laughter]

Trump, who got a standing ovation at the end of his speech, told the audience he had what it takes to win the GOP nomination as a conservative, but that he wouldn’t make a decision until June.

Trump has declared bankruptcy 3 times. In other words, he’s the perfect Republican. Trump has the oversized ego needed to run a campaign but I’ll bet he’s too thin-skinned to undergo the scrutiny. Can you imagine the fun when he has to release his tax forms?

Biden loves screwing up the White House’s messaging. Check out this sweet ‘Tweet’ treat which refers to Biden’s ‘new’ “Seize The Future” motto, a.k.a.:

Sussex County: The old land barons owners of the manufactured home parks are back at their dirty business again. They are dispossessing people in record numbers. They use bogus “incident reports” by security guards to go after families and split up families so there is less money to pay the rent. Yesterday in JPCourt 17 in Georgetown the lobby was filled with people being dispossessed from their homes. The new tactic by the land owners, make up bogus incident reports, threaten the homeowner by intimidation and harassment. When they cant pay for a lawyer to represent them, the land owners grab the homes. They get very expensive lot rent, plus they now own the home (taken through summary possession), and either sell or rent them making huge profits for themselves. The laws passed two years do little to help the home owner, but give landowners even more powers. Valihura the ugly republican who stood with landowners is now the attorney for the landowners in the dispossession of the poor. Aint life grand in Sussex and who will speak out again for these people?

“Trump has declared bankruptcy 3 times.”

actually, he never filed personal bankruptcy. The corporation that shares his name has filed for regorganization on mutliple ocasions.

He won’t run, this is all pr and hype (like everything he does).

  4. anon, if I were you and the people being dispossessed, I’d contact the AG’s office ASAP. I think you might get a good response there.
