To our Aunt Hazel Plant, we will miss you. If your tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane, I’d walk right up to Heaven and bring you home again. from family in Kansas.

  7. I will miss you dearly Aunt Hazel. You meant the world to me and the family. You are resting now and can be at peace. we will always love you, your family from Kansas.

Hazel Plant was one of the most delightful people I had the pleasure of working with in Dover. We sat next to each other in caucus and she always displayed a heightened interest in what was good for all the people and especially the most vulnerable. Many people felt there wasn’t a complexity to Hazel and her thoughts but I assure you that was not the case. I will miss her dearly.

  9. Belinsky says:

Kudos to Stephanie Bolden for having run against Hazel Plant and, in defeating her last fall, sparing us from (1) yet another special election,(2) the possibility of a rigged nominating process like the one 10 years ago after Al Plant’s death and (3) the possibility that such a process would have led to the installation of a hereditary nominee who proves to be an ineffectual legislator.

  10. Exhausted says:

Oh. My. God. Belinsky. This was an RIP post and you just hijacked it.

  11. Dirty Girl says:

No – he only hijackes it IF we let him – his bad taste says nothing about former Rep.Plant – but EVERYTHING! about him.

RIP Rep Plant and thank you for your service

and the rest of us can just ignore him

  12. I have the same sentiments as John with regard to Hazel Plant. While I never knew her personally, watching her on Community Crossfire over the years gave some insight into her bright character, robust humor and plain common sense. I will miss Hazel.

Come on Belinsk-i-butt, even Cassandra could dredge up some kind words for Stephanie’s opponent.

  13. Geezer says:

It’s especially sad for her family to lose her at this holiday season. I did not think she was a particularly effective legislator either — Al O. was a hard act to follow — but I think she did her best, and I know how much she loved her family. Godspeed, Ms. Plant, and condolences to your family.

  14. Dana Garrett says:

Very sad news, especially for her family at the holidays. I didn’t know she had been ill until someone mentioned it on FaceBook. My condolences to her family, friends and constituents.

  15. Michelle M says:
