Tornoe’s Toon: Rooting for Michael Vick

Filed in Sports by on November 22, 2010

Quarterback Michael Vick has leapt back from controversy in a remarkable way this season. So far, he’s 5-0 in the games he’s started and finished, hasn’t thrown a single interception and has single-handedly transformed the Philadelphia Eagles into a Super Bowl contender.

I have mixed feeling about Vick. On the one hand, the NFL is allowing him to play and he paid whatever price society deemed he deserved for his crimes. On the other, I can’t shake the horrible things that he and his friends did to the dogs in the Bad Newz Kennels, not to mention the gambling aspect that most often gets overlooked.

It’s a shame that someone so talented and unique has to carry all this negative baggage.

Michael Vick did 21 months for killing dogs, while Bush killed a million people and is not even charged.

“i wasnt aware bush personally killed anyone.”

Yeah, Bush had others do his killing for him. ….whatever makes you happy.

ah. thanks for clearing that up, delacrat (apparently able to pass judgment on people’s morals without even having to meet them or know who they are)

Im no fan either, but how about you stop acting like a democratic version of a Hannity caller. We’ll win much faster if we communicate on a more intelligent level than them.

  6. Jason330 says:

Root for Vick. Unless, of course you think prison is for punishment and not rehabilitation. Heck. Even If you think he has not been punished enough, your quarrel is with our legal system, not with Vick.

I’ve battled with this a little and I asked myself what do I want?

Am I hoping he fails completely in life and doesn’t battle back from being imprisoned and losing millions?

B/c to be honest, that is/was a pretty severe punishment. Yes, it was self inflicted. But, he did serve time and has suffered for it I guess.

The problem with it isn’t him. It’s me.

so go Vick, but the second you do something shitty again I’m off the bandwagon
