Reports From the GOTV Front Lines
A great many Democrats were out pounding the pavement yesterday. (I wasn’t because I had to support the cause of cleaning the perennials out of the northward facing flower beds.) But I know you were out knocking on doors. How did it go? What’s the buzz? Pour us [...]

Heathcare Warrior, Arm Thyself
Do you remember all of the breathless claims of Republicans and Tea Partiers talking about their “Canadian friend” that hates the Canadian healthcare system and came to the US for a really important surgery? Yeah, as you may have guessed, it is probably bogus. Last week, I heard a radio interview with the author of [...]

If I was going to pass on listening to an episode, I’d pass on this one. It is a little more rambling than usual, owing to the fact that one of us had a few beers in him at the time of the taping.

It seems like everyday, we’re getting a new bunch of teabagging rethuglican Congressional candidates who are not what the NRCC thought they were.
Last week, we blogged about Richard Iott, who likes to re-enact being a member of the SS.
And now we have Blake Farenthold, who likes duckie pajamas and pole dancers. Well, maybe [...]
Friday’s Asshat of the Day
Today’s award doesn’t go to an individual, but to a Federal government agency and one of it’s contractors.
Today we honor the US Office of Personnel Management and Aetna Insurance. Aetna is one of the companies that provide health benefits through the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHBP). And as Think Progress points [...]

There was some clear testimony during the Coons/O’Donnell debate. Only it wasn’t the kind of testimony Christine’s evangelical base was expecting.

Thursday’s Asshat of the Day
It seems that Carl Paladino had some second thoughts about his homophobic statements he made this past Sunday while visiting an Orthodox Jewish synagogue in Brooklyn. And those second thoughts and the apology he issued have cost him the endorsement of today’s asshat, Rabbi Yehuda Levin.
Levin is what we call in Yiddish a tuchas [...]

O’Donnell’s Pants Are On Fire
Remember last night when she claimed that Chris Coons has spent $5,300 on a “Men’s Fashion Show”? Talking Points Memo has gotten to the bottom of the claim. Guess what, it’s a lie.
But just like her “Man-pants” and “I never said that Mike Castle is gay” there is an implication about Chris Coons sexuality. What [...]

I was going to post an asshat award today, but instead, I’m honoring the men and women from numerous countries who worked for over two months to rescue the 33 Chilean miners. Many times we throw the word “hero” around to loosely, making some very mundane actions heroic.
What these men and women did to [...]
