Friday’s Asshat of the Day

Filed in National by on October 29, 2010

Who remembers Judge Roy Moore? He was the pre-teabag Alabama Supreme Court Justice who refused to obey a Federal court order to remove a monument of the 10 Commandments from his courthouse. He not only lost the case, he lost his job.

Well, it seems as one of his acolytes, Alabama Supreme Court Justice Tom Parker, doesn’t think much of US District Court Judge Virginia Phillips, who struck down DADT. He compared her to Al-Qaeda.

Recently, U.S. District Judge Virginia Phillips ordered a worldwide injunction to overturn the Don’t Ask/Don’t Tell policy on homosexuals serving in the military. With a stroke of a pen, this Clinton appointed judge—who got her law degree at Berkeley—unilaterally made the biggest single change in military policy in American history. . . . Most people believe that Al-Qaeda is one of America’s biggest security threats, I think it’s time to add liberal activist judges like Judge Phillips to that list.

And it seems that Parker is a bit of a bigot. I make that judgment by the friends he keeps. Take a look at the photo at the link above. Is he holding the Stars and Bars? And the two gentlemen he’s standing with – one is Leonard Wilson, a segregationist and national board member of a group called the Council of Conservative Citizens that has described African-Americans as “a retrograde species of humanity.” The other is Mike Whorton, Alabama state leader of the neo-Confederate League of the South.
Both have been listed as hate groups by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Now, you can pick who you want as friends, but you better be prepared to be tarred by their beliefs, especially when you go to worship at their feet. And this racist masquerading as a jurist, is as big of an asshat as yesterday’s. And they’re both from the South. Hmmm…………..

Anytime I see or hear the phrase “activist judges,” I just assume the person using it knows nothing about the purpose of the judicial system in this country.

Funny, I don’t remember this conservative outcry about activist judges following the Citizens United ruling.

I’m tired of people changing the America. Those 10 commandments should not been taken away.
Shame on those you wanted it taken away.
