DL Interviews Chris Coons – Money and Politics

Filed in National by on October 28, 2010

Unstable Isotope and I got a chance to interview Chris Coons on Thursday afternoon.  I will post these over the next day or so.

The first episode is two questions, one about the impact that the huge budget of Christine O’Donnell has had on his campaign.  The second question was about Mr. Coons’ thoughts on reforming the Senate.

  1. Question: Do I sound like a hick?

  2. heragain says:

You sound good, UI. Good interview, gang.

  3. liberalgeek says:

I wouldn’t say you sound hicky, but I just got a call from the West Virginia Republican party asking if you would be in a commercial for them… 🙂

We have a few more to go up in the next 24 hours.

I receive at least 3 pcs of mail a day from the witch! Two pieces from Coons during this whole campaign. Last night Odonnell had a “town hall meeting via the telephone” and 2000 people were on line. I have received one lit piece from Carney several from Urqy. I have received so many calls from the witch I dont want to answer the phone anymore. Receiving emails from gun lobby, Campaign for Liberty on behalf of the witch and Urqy?

What is wrong with the Delaware Dems. I called Carneys office yesterday to work and was told to call someone else. No one returned the call. Better get on the stick dems, its almost over.

I actually have talked to every campaign. I was going to organize a veterans round table but I had some recurring medical issues.

Coons was by far the most organized and responsive. I actually had a nice talk with one of Carney’s campaign managers and she was real nice.

O’donnell’s campaign was odd. I had to call and then someone called me back using caller id. I did eventually talk to someone, which was not the case before or even right after the primary.

Urqhart ( sp? ), someone did call me back eventually. Seems like his is the lowest budget operation.

I was invited and am going to a Coons event tomorrow with Sen Kerry. Years ago I never thought I would see the day that I, a conservative republican would openly and actively support a Democrat. Coons is a good person and he will do a great job for the state.

  6. @UI: Heh. I wouldn’t have noticed until you pointed it out, and then I caught the accent. I never noticed in September when we did lunch!

Also, I’m really glad he’s had a chance to look into the filibuster reform proposals.

  7. Paratrooper18 says:

Everyone in Delaware has the accent. When we moved here from PA our daughter eventually picked it up at school. Delawareans do not think they have an accent, but there is a very specific Eastern Shore accent and DE is a little different than MD folk.

  8. My accent comes from Kentucky where I lived until age 22.

  9. It’s definitely a Kentucky accent, not a Delaware accent.

Whenever I go back to Massachusetts, I now have a bit of a DE accent overlaid on my normal accent.

  10. delacrat says:

    U.I.

You have a Delaware accent if you shop at HUH oom DEE PUH ooh
