Tea Party Founder: The Tea Party is a Joke.

Filed in National by on October 21, 2010

Karl Denninger is a financial blogger who runs Market Ticker, a blog that has been strongly opposed to bank bailouts and has railed against excessive government spending. Denninger founded the group FedUpUSA in early 2008, shortly after the collapse of investment bank Bear Stearns. He is recognized as one of the original “founders” of the Teabagger movement. But he now he says what we have all said around these parts, that whatever geniune small government libertarian protest that existed at the beginning of the movement have long been coopted by the very Republican Party Denninger and others were protesting, and now the movement is only the radical social conservative bigoted base of the Republican base with a new name.

In a message to the Tea Party yesterday, Denninger says he “ought to sue” anyone who uses the Tea Party name “for defamation.” Um, I think he means to say “copyright infringement,” if he wants to sue the Republicans for stealing the original name. Defamation is something much different. But hey, Republicans are very unintelligent when it comes to the law. Regardless, that threat to sue was “a joke.” And then Denninger really goes after the GOP.

“But so are you. [A joke.] All of you. Especially Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich, Bob Barr, and douchebag groups such as the ‘Tea Party Patriots.'” […]

“Tea Party my ass. This was nothing other than the Republican Party stealing the anger of a population that was fed up with the Republican Party’s own theft of their tax money at gunpoint to bail out the robbers of Wall Street and fraudulently redirecting it back toward electing the very people who stole all the fucking money!” […]

In short, The Tea Party was and is about the the corruption of American Politics and the blatant and outrageous theft from all Americans that has resulted. It is about personal responsibility and enforcement of the law against those who have robbed, financially fucked and pillaged the nation.

Yet today we hear literally nothing about these issues among the so-called “Tea Party” candidates and their backers. Sarah Palin has not said one word about locking up the banksters that brought up on the housing bubble and economic collapse. Not one word about Bernanke’s out-of-control Fed and the arguably unlawful monetization of Fannie and Freddie paper, not to mention the monetization of the Federal Debt.

Where Denninger went wrong is being so outrageous in his condemnations in the first place. The outlandish rhetoric attracked the Radical Right, because they speak the same language, and hated Obama. But where Denninger was offering a libertarian rebuke to both Bush and the Republicans for the bailouts and Obama and the Democrats for the stimulus, the Radical Right HATED Obama because he was a black man and/or a Democrat. Condemnations of their party were unacceptable, so of course the movement had to stolen and redirected. The movement could not be libertarian in nature, but rather seek a “return to America’s values,” code for the theocratic transformation of this country into a Christian Taliban state where women and minorities knew their place, reproductive freedoms were taken away, and the wall between Church and State taken down.

I don’t have much sympathy for Denninger, because I disagree with economic libertarian views, and for the fact that he got into bed (figuratively) with Sarah Palin and her radical racist hordes in the first place. The old saying is you make your bed, so lay in it.

I was only hoping for a conflict between the GOP regulars and the TPers, but having the TPers go at each other is a delicious bonus.
