Castle Watch – T-3 Days

Mike Castle has 3 more days to decide if he’s going to run for U.S. Senate as a write-in candidate. What are the tea leafs saying?

– Pete DuPont endorsed Christine O’Donnell this weekend and called for party unity. I think this is a sign that Castle won’t run.

– Ron Williams wrote an editorial urging Castle not to run. Another sign of no.

– I’m watching for the release of a poll. I assume Castle was polling a 3-way race this weekend. If there’s no poll release that is another sign of no.

Anyone else have some signals to share?

    What a baby ass loser Castle makes himself out to be in that NJ front pager. I’ll bet he mounts a write in campaign for all the wrong reasons and throw this fucker to ODonnell.

    He was “surprised” but “not shocked,” and he says he tried to explain to supporters that he was vulnerable, but it didn’t work.

    The personal attacks that characterized the race, though, have him venting.

    “I love the way they say, ‘Well, there’s a rumor,’ ” he said, waving his hand and furrowing his brow. “Who made up the damned rumor, for God’s sake? It’s just absolutely, totally false. This happened throughout this campaign. There were a lot of little hits and things like that that are very discouraging. It just makes it very difficult for people to be in politics.”

    I think Castle does want revenge. He won’t get it by throwing the race to O’Donnell, though.

    Castle described his mood as “a little down.” Among his files are letters encouraging him to stay involved. Many supporters want him to run as a write-in candidate, but he said he probably won’t. He has until Sept. 30 to decide.
    “Don’t go headlining this,” he said smiling. “You’re talking about a remote possibility at this point.”

    So most Republicans are flat-earth Republicans then?

    Just coming through the tubez that a poll shows Castle with only 5% as a write-in candidate. I’ll post when it’s available.
