Is Mike Castle Determined To Make Me Hate Him?

Filed in Delaware by on September 25, 2010

Like most everyone in Delaware, I’ve always thought Mike Castle was a nice guy. He certainly exhibits a lot of patience in listening to voters, especially ones with a differing point of view. His toying with a write-in campaign is rather annoying. Get a load of this:

Rep. Mike Castle suggested a Washington watchdog group may have intentionally waited until he lost the GOP Senate primary before filing a campaign finance fraud complaint against his opponent, Christine O’Donnell.

Castle — who said Wednesday he has not ruled out a write-in campaign — called the timing of the complaint by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington “suspect” and possibly designed to help the Democratic candidate, New Castle County Executive Chris Coons. Castle was seen as the probable winner in a general-election matchup against Coons, but O’Donnell had been considered a long shot.

Castle noted that CREW filed its complaint with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Delaware and the Federal Election Commission days after the Senate primary and months after The News Journal reported in March that O’Donnell was using campaign funds for personal living expenses. Castle recalled that his campaign had often made the same allegations.

Castle notes that Melanie Sloan is originally from Delaware, so she could have known about O’Donnell earlier. CREW responded:

Sloan called the suggestion “ridiculous” and said CREW didn’t pay attention to O’Donnell until Castle lost because she wasn’t considered a serious candidate.

She said the group became aware of allegations regarding O’Donnell’s campaign spending when news outlets reported that voters had received Election Day robocalls supporting Castle that said O’Donnell had used campaign donations to pay for rent and personal expenses.

So Castle’s allegation is that CREW should have been reading the News Journal and have done something before? Why didn’t Mike Castle take this to CREW himself or actually talked to the U.S. Attorney? He’s mad that CREW didn’t do his work for him. That’s too damn bad, buddy.

Also, this story (look at picture on left side as well) does not give me warm feelings about him.

Why didn’t Castle do his fucking job and beat that lying grifter at the polls? What an ass.

  2. MJ says:

CREW is non-partisan; 8 of its top 15 Dirty Politicians are Democrats. Just more sour grapes from Mikey.

  3. anonone says:

Castle and his wife were all lovey-dovey with Christine last night. He is getting ready to endorse her.

A1 – in this case, I don’t think the picture is worth a thousand words. The article clearly points out that they avoided each other all night until that one moment when COD went up to Castle and his wife.

  5. jason330 says:

Nevertheless, gross. If he follows Copeland and sides up with O’Donnell I will think less of him than I already do. (Which I thought was impossible.)

  6. I agree about the photo op. Castle is clutching his wife’s hand as if it would otherwise be slapping COD in the face.

  7. Venus says:

The GOP locked jaw does come in handy sometimes. I wouldn’t make any big deal of what was reported as cordial courtesy. Did you think he was going to show up in some WWF outfit, with a Roller Derby wife?

  8. Miscreant says:

    “CREW is non-partisan; ….”

    Bullshit.

    – Donors to CREW include such liberal groups as George Soros’ Open Society Institute, Democracy Alliance, and the Service Employees International Union.

    – Their 2010 list of “Corrupt Candidates” includes 9 Republicans and 3 Democrats (including fringe Democratic candidate for U. S. Senate Alvin Greene)

    – Melanie Sloan serves as CREW’s Executive Director. Prior to starting CREW in 2003, she served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the District of Columbia, after having worked for Congressional Democrats John Conyers, Charles Schumer, and Joseph Biden.] As a lawyer she represents Valerie Plame in her lawsuit against former Bush administration official for their alleged role in the public disclosure of her classified CIA status.

Yep, CREW is a true bastion of objectivity.

  9. jason330 says:

    Nancy,

I agree. Mrs. Castle looks about to slap a bitch.

  10. Belinsky says:

Like O’Donnell’s spokesman, Miscreant can’t answer the embarrassing charges, just blubbers that Melanie Sloan has a career.

  11. Miscreant says:

Apparently, a few minor facts is all it takes to make a progressive Kool-Aid drinker scream like a little girl.

    Cool.

  12. Brian Shields says:

Mrs. Castle’s jacket is God-Awful. Who dressed her, 1975?

  13. Miscreant says:

Looks like it was designed by NASA.

  14. Anon Knows Nothing says:

Timing or not, the allegations are true and O’Donnell is a non starter.

I hope he runs write in.

  15. Geezer says:

CREW is non-partisan. As is the CRI. Except that CRI has never criticized a Republican even for the sake of appearances.

  16. Bobby Thomson says:

Miscreant, it’s not CREW’s fault that Republicans, as the party that has historically favored banks and other moneyed interest, are more corrupt than Democrats.

  17. jason330 says:

And getting back to the point of the post – I think Castle went light on O’Donnell because he stupidly thought that he would pick up O’Donnell supporters after brushing her away in the primary.
