Have Some of Us Been Correct about COD’s Motives? – UPDATED

Filed in Delaware by on September 24, 2010

So maybe all of the pundits and bloggers have been wise to COD’s motives after all. As Suzy Parker writes on Politics Daily

If O’Donnell loses to Democrat opponent Chris Coons, she’ll likely land her own television show. Maybe that’s what she’s been after all of these years.

Parker points out that during COD’s “career,” she worked her way into stints with the RNC and an anti-pornography group. Nothing wrong there; gotta put food on the table. But it seems to me that it was all about Christine and not the people she worked for. She struck out on her own and created SALT (Peppa was already performing in another group) and found the world of television punditry. We already know about her MTV show about masturbation and she even talked up creationism on CNN. And of course, her regular visits to Politically Incorrect.

And after digging around, I found this sound clip of her trying her hand as a talk show host on WGOP:

So maybe we’ve all been right about this after all. A professional politician who has no visible means of support except campaign donations has been working all of this time for her big break. And she might have just found it when she won the GOP primary last week.

UPDATE: Here’s a clip from 2003 which O’Whack-a-Mole intoning against sex on Scarborough Country.

and hopefully it will break her.

  2. Jason330 says:

ODonnell has been candid about her career objectives. Her past campaign manager said that she unapologetic about using her campaign to land a talk show.

  3. dv says:

they make more money and have more influence that is for sure

  4. JustTheFacts says:

I believe Rick Jensen had her fill in a few times on the air. She was terrible.

Of course that was when Rick (and the rest of the Delaware GOP) loved her and propped her up…

  5. Venus says:

When was she ever loved by the GOP?

  6. JustTheFacts says:

Uhm, when you people ran her for Senate 2 years ago?

Let’s not rewrite history…. she’s yours, claim it, own it.

  7. Jason330 says:

She is loved now. Copeland had a big hard on for her when talking to Loudell yesterday. It is a GOP lovefest.

    From 2008….

    “Salute at Vicmead “Best Ever”!!

Bill Lee and Charlie Copeland brought the crowd to their feet with a rousing call to action Monday night at the 2008 Salute to Vicmead at the Vicmead Hunt Club. “Delaware cannot afford 4 more years of the Minner-Carney administration!!” …with that statement, Bill Lee gave his public acceptance of the Republican Party endorsement for Governor!

National Committeeman -elect Laird Stabler III introduced Bill Lee with an enthusiastic rallying cry “The Republican Party is back!! We have the winning team for 2008!”

Republican National Committeewoman, Priscilla Rakestraw called this Salute at Vicmead the “best ever”!
“The enthusiasm for the Lee-Copeland team was wonderful! People responded to Bill Lee and Charlie Copeland with applause and cheers!”

Christine O’Donnell, candidate for U.S. Senate and John Brady, candidate for Insurance Commissioner, joined Lee and Copeland at the podium along with elected officials and candidates from all three counties. They were greeted with loud applause and cheers.

“We’re a Party on the move!” said newly elected State Party Chairman Tom Ross. “We have a great ticket that’s offering great solutions for Delaware. After 16 years of Democratic mismanagement, it’s time for a change!”

She seems to be fine when talking from a script, but when she has to wing it, she’s terrible.

  10. Dana Garrett says:

I have a different theory about Christine’s ambitions. I think she really believes she can win because (she believes) it is God’s will for her to win. I think she understands herself to be on an express mission from God, one that would someday catapult her into the presidency. I think her ego–charged by her extreme religiosity–is that big.

  11. cassandra m says:

I think that the ego-charged religiosity is part of the package for these wingnuts perpetually running for stuff. The goal isn’t to govern, it is to have some celebrity profile. Books, TV, your name on producers’ rolodex files — the business of running for office is part of the whole profile management (and promotion).

And recalls another bit of GOP hypocrisy — remember when they rolled out their Obama wants to be a celebrity deal? And here they all are running a boat load of candidates for whom some celebrity is always going to be more important than being in government. For O’Donnell, it is the path to that Nordstrom’s credit card!

  12. Bob says:

she is a ego maniacal fake is the only way to explain her.. Her ambition/poor qualifications for doing anything else drove her to run every 2 years for Senate as she had nothing better to do. This year she knocked off a decent guy in a primary where only a small percentage of the general voting public voted. In November we will see if a majority of voters are sane. The primary vote was part temporary insanity as a protest against establishment Mike and the fervent passion of the permanently insane who think she is genuine.

  13. Arie Bakker says:

Maybe she and sister Sarah can co-host a very conservative Talk-Show called the Right View. On Fox of course. And all the mindless sore losers can get some comfort in it.

  14. Exhausted says:

Despite the horrific content of the interview, it’s clear she does have the skillset for having a talk show. There was no dead air.

    I don’t have a twitter account.

Mj, as an investigative reporter you make a great janitor. either you did not live in sussex county in late 06 into 07 or you you lived under a rock. She was a very regular fill in on all 3 time slots at the time I actually rescheduled my Friday gig at the time to avoid her. Gaffney is her Dr. Frankenstein and now he is in a quandry. Colley on the other hand came down the PA Turnpike with his k-mart furniture in the U-Haul and became an “instant Sussex expert” She saw Billy Boy and and he swallowed her 40 year old Virgin crap hook line and Sinker. Bottom line Chrissy is crazy but she is focused opportunist single minded crazy. And she CAN win. Complacancy is her friend do not be complacant!

  20. MJ says:

Actually, JP, I’ve lived down here since 2005, however, I didn’t even know about WGMD until 2008, when I was volunteering on Markell’s campaign and was asked to monitor the shows.
